They put up a flag for everyone who's died of covid in LA county on the lawn in front of the Griffith observatory.

26,661 flags.

Going to Steely Dan tomorrow at Benedum Center. Planning to take my vaxxed 14 year old but concerned about the following COVID policy:

"Together with the proof of vaccination, all guests 12 years or older must also present a photo ID with name matching the vaccine card (i.e. driver’s license, passport, school photo ID). Guests younger than 18 may use a government-issued photo ID or school photo ID. Guests under 12 must be accompanied by an adult who meets the above requirements."

Do kids in 6th-8th grade (12-14) typically have a photo ID? My kids at that age have never had a passport or received a school photo ID, which they don't get here till High School. I think, anyway... I guess I'm not 100% sure she doesn't have one.

I'm going to call them today because I can't imagine I'm the only person to have this issue. Wifey can't go because she hurt her knee and doesn't want to walk around town so if the kiddo can't go I'll go alone. It's just weird to me that they put this photo ID requirement out there for people who wouldn't typically have one.

Coronavirus cases are rising once again, disrupting classrooms, overwhelming hospitals and alarming public health officials — even in areas with high vaccination rates — who warn the country is headed for a holiday surge that could leave thousands dead.
Though nearly 70 percent of the country has had at least one shot and hospitalizations have fallen from their September highs, the news in many states remains grim and the trend lines portend a fresh wave in the coming weeks./quote]

I’d be curious to see the number of people who still haven’t caught it in the USA (at least to their knowledge). Like, I understand vaccines aren’t an end all be all, and you can get reinfected, but typically if you have one of those two, ya stay out of the hospital.

Yeah, I would imagine there have been countless thousands of cases that were undetected and untested.

I'm officially super-charged! got my booster yesterday around 5:00. so far, no real side effects. the tiniest headache last night but that's it. my SO had a bit of a sore arm and was tired but she's also finishing up grad school so tired is nothing new to her.

16 hours post booster.

Arm is sore. Little fatigued.

Wife got bad chills after about 18-19 hours. Hoping to avoid that.

between 12-36 hours all I had were some generalized body aches (as well as a sore arm). Wasn’t that bad though. 48 hours in and my arm is still sore but I feel fine otherwise. Wasn’t nearly as bad as the second shot was

Our local Rite Aid has walk-ins daily from 2-3pm. No appointment. I strolled in at 2:45 yesterday and there was only one other person. Very easy.

I'm still convinced I had it last year prior to the shutdown.
