COVID-19

Postby NAN » Wed Nov 17, 2021 1:30 pm

More importantly, do you know anyone that hasn't had at least one positive case in their household?
Honestly, I think most people I'm close with, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc, everyone has had at least 1 COVID positive person in their home at some point in time. Maybe not all at the same time, but randomly. And literally, the one co-worker who I also consider a good friend, as well as my wife's cousin, both who are extremely antivax, have not had anyone in their household get it, which is annoying. Because now all I hear from them is "see the vax doesn't work, in fact you've gotten it after".

Continuing to see breakthrough cases, just like with the Pens, and other athletes, etc, I think it is just going to keep the line drawn for the anti vaxers and they'll use it as "proof" it doesn't work.

Fortunately, everyone I know that has COVID post vaccination that are vaxxed have had minimal symptoms, if any, which is the main point.

Those people don't understand how vaccines work and nothing that the see or hear will ever change their stance. People are morons.

The window opens at six months. Current guidance is still prioritizing at-risk populations, but it seems like those administering the boosters don't really screen. So, whenever you're ready.

Just bought tickets for Iliza Scheslinger in Pittsburgh in November. Our first official plan to do something with a crowd after Covid.
We saw her a couple years ago for $15/person at the Carnegie Library Music Hall of Homestead when she was doing a mini-tour to workshop stuff for her most recent special. She was fantastic. I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
Circling back around on this...because I forgot this was a thing until I get a reminder in my email that it's tomorrow haha.

asking for a 37 year old friend with no preexisting conditions who was fully vaccinated the first week of May. If this friend struts into the local Rite Aid this evening and asks for a booster, can they get one even if they do not have prexisiting conditions

Unless a Vaccine Nazi is manning the station, you can get one.

Is this friend willing to check a box that says he does have preexisting conditions? Full approval for all is coming very soon but right now you'll need to tell a little white lie. Also, we were turned away at Rite Aid because we didn't have an appointment. We ended up going to the UPMC clinic on the South Side instead (no appointment needed).

Id say probably. If they are that worried lie and say you do I doubt they question you at all.

You can make it easier by just scheduling online and say on there you have a pre existing condition ahead of time...then they definitely won't ask.

By the way, I had exactly the same reaction to the booster as the second shot: fatigue and body aches for about 10 hours. Nothing I couldn't power through with some help from Tylenol.

I didn't lie at all for mine... I work in a manufacturing environment.

But yeah. Lie if you have to. It's not like they have a line out the door waiting for booster shots.

My wife's school district asked their employees if they were interested in a booster shot clinic, as they had with shots 1 & 2 in March and April. There wasn't enough interest to have a clinic. Typical. (She got it at CVS on her own).

When I got my booster I scheduled it through Giant Eagle pharmacy. Let you choose the type and everything. Did have to drive a little, but they didn't ask anything and the sheet you filled out didn't require you to lie about anything either.

Source of the post the sheet you filled out didn't require you to lie about anything either.
I'm sure the sheet had some sort of check box indicating either that you were either:

- 65 or older
- Long-term care patient
- Underlying medical condition
- Work in a high-risk setting

Unless you previously got J&J. In that case, you're eligible now. No questions asked.

I honestly don't recall having to do anything like that. I think that's why I remember it, because I expected I'd have to.

With the official CDC list of underlying medical conditions still including overweight/obesity and now including such things as mental-health disorders and even former (not current) smokers, I'm thinking probably 75% of adults have to fit on there somewhere.

when I had previously posted about getting denied for a booster they asked that but when I just signed up to get one through CVS I don’t remember a question about being in a high priority demo
