That said, I wish they would just **** approve the vaccines already and be done with the EAU.

approval won't convince many people where I am. it's not so much the approval but the "they rushed it out! I don't trust them!" crowd. :scared:

The person I argued with last week doesn't want to get it because it infringes upon their rights and freedoms.

So no amount of approvals would get them to change their mind.

Wouldn't people be happy that guys like DeSantis are exterminating the unvaxxed in their states?
Tbh I've had the morbid thought of "At what point does this nonsense become electorally significant in places like FL and TX and GA?" but was reluctant to post it here.

I literally just read a post where a woman admonished that, after her covid vaccine, she came down with a bowel obstruction and sepsis. She's warning everyone not to get the vaccine so they don't end up like her. :face:
I just had a 21 year old co-worker from a rural office come by for something and he told me that his "70 something year old" grandfather died after he got the vaccine and they have no idea what he died from so it HAD to be the vaccine. :face:
too young to die, too stupid to live.

I note that the exact same people who dismiss the 640,000 deaths in the US by saying stuff like, "They didn't die from Covid, they just died with Covid" are also the same people who want to argue that anyone and everyone who died for any reason any time after being vaccinated must have died from the vaccine.

The SC Supreme court ruled that indeed the University of SC can issue a campus mask mandate, regardless of the proviso added to the state budget legislation that bans such mandates (i.e. state institutions could lose funding if they forced masks on people).

Of course, the lawsuit came up because our Attorney General Alan Wilson, son of Joe "You LIE!" Wilson, opposed a proposed mask mandate for that campus. Wilson then fundraised off the situation:
In [UofSC professor's] lawsuit, [UofSC Professor's attorney and Democrat state rep) Harpootlian included as an exhibit a fundraising letter that Wilson emailed to donors after getting Pastides to back down from his mask mandate.

Wilson’s email said in part, “The fight over vaccines and masks has never been about science or health. It’s about expanding the government’s control over our daily lives. I won’t stand for it.” Wilson then asked people to send him various amounts of money up to $100.

Wilson also said in the email to donors, “The unelected bureaucrats at the CDC and liberal politicians at every level of government are determined to use the COVID crisis as an excuse to dramatically expand their interference in, and control over, every decision YOU make. They won’t get away with it.”

Harpootlian said, “That email shows that within 24 hours of telling Pastides to reverse his mask mandate, Wilson was raising money off what he told the university. He was monetizing his opinion, he was using it to raise money off of people who were deluded into thinking they have some sort of constitutional right not to wear masks during the greatest public health emergency in a 100 years.”

Harris Pastides is the interim President of the University of SC, and he is an epidemiologist by trade. He wanted masks back on, because he's an expert and knows it works, but couldn't do it until the SC Supreme Court stepped in.

While this is clever, I'm afraid all Abbott has to do is re-draft his EO to specifically exclude face coverings from the definition of school dress codes.

You know, once he recovers from his active COVID infection.

Our one Trumper neighbor is like this. "These people are all dying of something else, they just had covid, too."

What happens with Reynolds will depend on what happens with this glut of prospects. If guys separate themselves from the pack and look like bona fide major leaguers, then maybe they hang on to Reynolds. But if someone knocks their socks off between now and then, they should take it.

They have a long way to go though.

This Reynolds fellow sounds like a no-load. Give him some Regeneron and see if that helps.

The Regeneron thing is funny to me. Abbott had no symptoms, and supposedly 3 doses of P/M. He must have been pretty scared to go ahead and get Regeneron treatment.

Being employed here doesn't make you smart, considering what I deal with on a daily basis.

We had people in May of last year demanding to go back into the office during a live Q&A on COVID operations.

Not rednecks, but honestly would shock me if the University staff was made up of about 50% trumpers

Based on my recollections of being a Pitt student and employee, a significant chunk of the workers in roles like custodial staff, food service, etc. are in the minority groups that are significantly vaccine hesitant.

That’s my impression too.

Pitt should require their employees to get the vaccine. That would probably solve that problem

I can think of at least one person in my office who likely didn't get it, based off of comments made pre-COVID regarding "western medicine".

How in gods name isn’t Pitt requiring it? I would be pissed if my vaccinated kid got infected by some idiot staffer who refused the vaccine

Though, among all this, it should be noted that these percentages recorded are people who uploaded proof of vaccination. Only 55% faculty and 56% staff have done so.

The leftover could also just be idiots who don't understand how to email a picture and save it as a document (which again, very familiar with)
