COVID-19
We got rid of the middle class which turned every dude without a salaried job into a disenfranchised edge lord - so that 401k’s stay hot because of our offshore slave labor. After all is said and done, I never want to hear about the 'american spirit' ever again. This country is so plagued with people who flat out refuse to do even the bare minimum to help others, often doing the opposite just to be disruptive. We're the biggest laughing stock on earth, and deserve to be seen as such.
And before anyone says it, I don't give a **** how this has gone in Europe or anywhere else. We should be better than this.
And now those edgelords have avatars in Congress which is a lot of fun for everyone

I doubt they'd take my daughter, but I'd sign her up for the trials if I had known where to do it.You know what? I think you're right. Even better then. If they approve it for use early next year, I'll be signing up my daughter for the shot.

My wife just left for her first trip outside of Centre county on her own since the pandemic started, the only other time being with me to attend my best friend's small (20ish people outdoor) wedding. She said she's pretty anxious about the travel... not so much that she's afraid of catching covid. We're close enough to the 2 weeks out from the 2nd shot. Just anxious because she hasn't done it in well over a year.
It's gonna be weird getting back to "normal" this summer.

One thing I have greatly enjoyed about the pandemic is constantly having free weekends with no travel, but being free to do day trips and whatnot. The anti-social/introverted side of me doesn't want a return to full normalcy in that respectMy wife just left for her first trip outside of Centre county on her own since the pandemic started, the only other time being with me to attend my best friend's small (20ish people outdoor) wedding. A crap ton of trade shows have moved their conferences to the fall. Our company's last trade show was literally the week before everything shut down, so now our company is going full blown "LET'S TRAVEL!!!" Couple that with I'm wrapping up one major project and in the early stages of starting another one, my managers want me to go to any and all trade shows associated with either industry (medical and pharmaceutical instrumentation for the old project and then renewable/green energy for the new one). They're really trying to load up my plate with travel and I'm doing my best to nope out of as much as I can.

My wife gets her first shot tomorrow. I am dying to go to our local mexican restaurant and eat there. We ate outside at a restaurant on Wednesday for the first time since March 2020. My fiance is fully vaxxed, I get my second shot next week. It was weird but enjoyable. The giant margaritas helped.

My wife is fully vaxxed and I have one shot in (2nd dose next Thursday). I'm perfectly fine eating indoors at this point if she wanted to go to a restaurant that only had indoor seating.

I'm not quite there yet. Our plan is to ease into it with outdoor seating for now.My wife is fully vaxxed and I have one shot in (2nd dose next Thursday). I'm perfectly fine eating indoors at this point if she wanted to go to a restaurant that only had indoor seating.

Yeah but then you go to the BBC article linked within the NBC News article and get this:
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-56696907Scientists stress the risk of death in this age group is still "very low" - the current figures suggest only 0.58% of Brazil's 345,287 Covid deaths to date have been of 0-9 year olds - but that is more than 2,000 children.

Looks like there was a massive day of backlog cases dropped in Allegheny county recently throwing off some of the trends. Allegheny county seems relatively flat... still higher than I'd want, but flat.
Bedford and Somerset county are up over 241% and 108% in the last 14 days (stay safe Tony) and PA as a whole is up 18% over the last 14 days. Hospitalizations and deaths seem to be following suit.
