That's why you use a flip phone, right?

COVID-19
You didn’t watch enough movies.I'm curious, if you were offered a free microchip plant, would you get it?
Obviously it's dumb to think that there's a microchip in a vaccine, but saying "you already have a phone" doesn't do it for me. While yes, I am willingly giving that information to the government right now, I can always throw my phone away. It's not part of me. A theoretical microchip would be different. I wouldn't want that. Where literally, no matter what, you can always be tracked. That is a little terrifying
but thinking you wouldn't get a test because they think they'll steal their DNA (you know, as opposed to getting a blood sample at the doctor's or some other obvious way to get your DNA) is ludicris. What are you even afraid of with your DNA? that they'll clone you?
The government will use your DNA to frame you for crimes you didn’t commit. Duh!

it's depressing to think that there's a light at the end of the tunnel with this from vaccines and yet people are seeing the light and deciding to drive back into the tunnel
was reading the comments of this reddit thread. My **** god, there's a lot of people who don't want this vaccine. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills
the sub leans a little right and a lot of people are making a bad faith comparison to abortion ("my body my choice right???") but still. this is really dumb. I hate people
if there was genuine statistical or qualitative evidence that these vaccines imposed some sort of health or whatever else risk, then I'm absolutely all ears. The cure can't be worse than the disease. But none of that exists. It's just imagined bullsh*t

I think vaccination should be a choice, but those that choose to opt-out should be restricted from things like air travel or large indoor gatherings. I know that jumps immediately to 'show me your papers' hysterics, but given the valid public policy argument I'm okay with it.
If you had to get a vaccine to watch college football you'd have these yokels breaking into clinics at night to get them.

if people were paid $1400 to get the vaccine, most would get it, imo. hell, Publix bribed me to get my flu shot this year with a $10 gift card.

I still think that should have been on the table - throw a few bucks to everyone getting the vaccine, payable after the second dose.if people were paid $1400 to get the vaccine, most would get it, imo. hell, Publix bribed me to get my flu shot this year with a $10 gift card.

Is there an eta on when we figure out what we can and cannot do while vaccinated? i.e. when are we going to figure out if vaccinated people can still spread it, etc.

I think there's been initial indication that those that are vaccinated, even if they are carriers of the virus, don't spread it as..."well" as non vaccinated people? Is there an eta on when we figure out what we can and cannot do while vaccinated? i.e. when are we going to figure out if vaccinated people can still spread it, etc.
I think I remember a study being posted in here about that

I'm sure that will take some time. once I'm 2 weeks out from my 2nd dose (still waiting for 1st) I will go back to doing some of the things I did before. some will have to wait because my SO is likely at the back of the line for vaccine. when we reach the point when everyone who wanted the vaccine has had it then I won't care anymore. if I'm vaccinated and you're not, if you get it from me as a "carrier" that's your fault (with very few exceptions) because you didn't get vaccinated and I won't feel bad about it for even a second. say hi to Darwin for me.Is there an eta on when we figure out what we can and cannot do while vaccinated? i.e. when are we going to figure out if vaccinated people can still spread it, etc.

My roommate's uncle is a prostate cancer survivor and couldn't get a vaccine in 1A, so he and his wife claimed they were smokers (and even bought a pack on the way there for theatrics once they got to the site). That got them a dose.
So weird. Maybe I'll just light a bunch of cigs near clothes and wear them in to an appointment.

For us, the 2nd doses basically just made us a little less anxious about everything. We haven't actually changed any habits, but I definitely feel more comfortable visiting family, now that most of us have been vaccinated. My dad got his first shot yesterday, and he's the last one.

ah yeah, the studies that say vaccinated people are less likely to spread the virus are ongoing. I misremembered; apparently the story was that early signs point to that that hypothesis was true
https://www.businessinsider.com/fauci-v ... oad-2021-2
Dr. Fauci is touting some of the first evidence that vaccines can help stop the spread of COVID-19.
The hunch hinges on 2 new studies, which suggest vaccinated people don't spread the coronavirus well, even if they do get sick.
Getting vaccinated, Fauci said, is "not only good for you," it can protect others too.

Just found out my sister in law, whose job it is to water plants at various places of business, was placed on the 1A list because her job is "essential". She may get it before her parents, who have some minor health issues and are pushing 80.
I wonder if they'd let her abdicate her shot and give it to one of her parents. I can see her doing something like that.

No eta. The CDC is currently studying that actual protection rate now by asking states for data on covid positive tests 10 or more days following the second dose.Is there an eta on when we figure out what we can and cannot do while vaccinated? i.e. when are we going to figure out if vaccinated people can still spread it, etc.

I'm now the only one in my family (minus my 2 year old son) that hasn't had at least one shot. I'm also the only one who leaves the house to go to work everyday (with the exception of my sister who works in a hospital and was the first to be vaccinated). Funny it's worked out that way, but here we are.

2000-(65*2) = 1870
where did those other 870 shots go?
why is everyone so bad at math?
edit nvm, according to the facebook post they had 1,950 shots left. that it was weird that they reduced 1,950 to "over 1000" in that tweet

Somebody on one of the afternoon cable news shows made this argument a couple months ago. Condition a portion of people's COVID relief money on vaccination.if people were paid $1400 to get the vaccine, most would get it, imo. hell, Publix bribed me to get my flu shot this year with a $10 gift card.
