My company went from March to October without a single case. The holidays hit and we had 3 after Thanksgiving, now 4 after Christmas/New Years (we're a company of ~60 employees). I don't know if it's people visiting for holidays, just the general uptick in cases, or (most likely) a combo of the two...

Also heard on the radio that the local hospital is seeing about 5x the hospitalizations that they were seeing in September despite similar case numbers in the area. My guess is it was all college students back in September and now it's the general population (older).

Again to speak to the different timings around the country, while our positivity rate is still high here in KC (testing is way down) the 7 day new case total is half what it was in November right before Thanksgiving. It seems the Midwest was probably the last to get the first wave, and this is actually our lull before a second wave.

A California hospital administered 600 coronavirus vaccines in two hours on Monday after one of its freezers malfunctioned, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The freezer had been storing shots of Moderna's vaccine, which must be refrigerated at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius — about 36 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit — or used within 12 hours once it hits room temperature.

Staff members at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley Medical Center, in Mendocino County, discovered at 11:35 a.m. that the freezer was faulty and that the solutions were warming up, the Times reported.

The center quickly launched four pop-up vaccination centers, and the drive saved the doses from going to waste.
