COVID-19
Yeah, I believe I'm in that group as well because of an autoimmune disease...but I can't imagine how anyone will be letting me know...
I guess you'd have to contact your PCP or local hospital and give them your info, no?
At least, thats what my roommate said his grandmother was doing (she falls into 1B)

The uncertainty of the answer to that question goes to my question above.
I just feel like a lot of mikey's will fall through the cracks.

I have a gastroenterologist...but my impression is that this is one of those rare things that doesn't go in your butt...

I just had a research project Zoom call. Four people from four states: AR, CA, FL, IN. The lady from CA (greater LA) legitimately scared. On stay-at-home order, TV news there allegedly talking about ICU having negative free capacity, need for field hospitals, or hospital units being opened in non earthquake proof buildings. Her university completely remote for the whole 2020/21 academic year.
Meanwhile, the other three states pretty much open. Universities moving towards 50+% face to face classes in the Spring. AR, in particular, despite running well above US average for COVID new cases per capita for the last 6+months has no field hospitals, no talk of ICU calamity, Bars, restaurants, tourist destinations, indoor college sport events AND some (not all) museums (!!!) open to public. Just with indoor mask requirements...

Take care, man. I can remember when I thought you were the old guy on the other board... At 60! At least you are a gamer so you have an escape1c for me too. I'm 71 with COPD, heart disease and ulcerative colitis. Better than being in phase 2.

This has been on my mind as well. Who is going to make these decisions on tiers? And essential workers - who is going to administer the shots? Will there be nurses at places of business giving shots during these people's breaks, will they get some kind of "shot card" that they take to their PCP, will each PCP have enough shots to cover their patients plus people that don't have PCPs...way too many questions. The uncertainty of the answer to that question goes to my question above.

It's easy now because the first people getting shots are hospital workers and people with money/power, but once you go beyond that the logistics are too cloudy.

here in GA we're setting records on a regular basis, and not in a good way. local news reports that cases AND positivity rates are higher now than any other time during the pandemic. perhaps most frightening is that the hospitalization rates have skyrocketed to the point where the Governor has re-opened an overflow field hospital in our giant convention center yet most businesses are open, sports (pro and amateur) are going on pretty much as normal though with LESS spectators at the pro level. most schools are either back to in-person or planning to return in January.I just had a research project Zoom call. The latter. Many, many people may have already had this new variant. They just identified it whenever they identified it, no way of knowing how long its been around.

I think someone posted it here... the UK tests for strain variation almost orders of magnitude more than other countries. Just because they were the first to identify it doesn’t mean they were the first to have it.
