COVID-19

Now, back to reasonable thinking, what is the word on the targeted date for the first public doses? Public meaning people within the populations they choose to target first.

As I understand it the runout period for monitoring on Pfizer monitoring is within the next few days? Moderna probably has a little longer since they filled their enrollment just last week, right? But as soon as the runout period is done they can pretty much start the next day right?
Whoever was taking on GMA this morning was saying that maybe end of December for the "most vulenrable" seems to be a target. Not sure if that is doable, but would be a good start.
Pfizer has enough for 20 million people in the USA for December distribution and moderna has enough for 10 million more people for December distribution.

Everyone remain calm. If you get it, you don't have to worry about who doesn't.
That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works.

At 94% effective, most would not have to worry about it.

This is what i meant. Very minimal personal risk upon vaccination. Most people are going to get vaccinated so therefore most people will have very minimal personal risk. Enough that the ones that don't get it aren't going to be much of a problem.

Some snippets of the calm folks this morning:
"If one wants it" shouldn't be a thing. Get the **** vaccine or lose the right to participate in society.
I don't care if someone wants to go all tin foil hat and not get vaccinated but if they choose not to, no subsidizing their healthcare costs in any way, shape, or form.
And you'll also be on a no-fly list, unable to attend work/school, and be banned from sporting events, concerts, and theme parks.
Very calm. Calmer than you are.

Hey I have two of the "very calm" quotes. Neat. I'm super calm, by the way, I just think idiots, specifically anti-vax idiots, deserve to be shunned and mocked.

Me too. But we're 10 minutes in to the Moderna news and yalls immediate reaction is to start finger pointing. Cant we have a few hours to enjoy the good news?

In any event the turnaround to get not one but two vaccines that are above 90% effective is nothing short of incredible. When the scientific community really hunkers down and wants to get **** done.. they get **** done.

That’s still not how it works. A 94% effective rate is every time you come in contact with the virus. Every time someone with Covid sneezes into your butthole, you roll a 100 sided dice to see if you get it. 94 times you don’t. 6 times you do.

With that rate, I give ulf three days until he catches it.

Isn’t it 94 people out of 100 that get it are immune? Since not everyone’s body reacts the same way to vaccines.

Pfizer has enough for 20 million people in the USA for December distribution and moderna has enough for 10 million more people for December distribution.
distribution doesn't just magically happen though, especially with the Phizer product. it requires super cold refrigeration at every link in the chain. the news story this morning said that states are scrambling to buy the super-freezers they need. hopefully it happens in a timely manner and we can start beating down this virus. :fist:

This. It may be ready to be distributed, but now the logistical nightmare of getting all the right equipment at the right places in a very short period of time begins.

Let’s do it, at best I’m immune to Covid, at worst I turn into the hulk or get autism or something else I saw on Facebook.

Logistic is going to be tough, but I'm far less worried about that aspect than anything else. They'll figure it out.

Good thing we have a no nonsense administration that can see this through and will definitely not have any pissing matches with states over these freezers

Is this true? I honestly thought it was 94% of people develop the protective antibodies essentially granting them immunity (for however long it lasts), as opposed to every time you do a line of Covid you have a 6% chance of getting it?

We have tremendous freezers. The best freezers you've ever seen maybe in the history of freezers. And we're going to be announcing our plan very soon.

Oh no, what if that’s been the Hulk’s thing the whole time? He’s just in the spectrum and people just think he’s angry. Really though Hulk is just misunderstood and needs social services.
