The idea that children wouldn't spread coronavirus is laughable at best.

The report I heard was children under 12 were half as likely to transmit the disease as anyone over 12. It may have been 10. I can’t recall. Was a few weeks ago when I heard it.

Half as likely is not won’t.

Germ bombs.

Someone paid money to find out children spread germs. Cool.

Well, the study was more specific to determining just how much children spread the virus compared to adults. Considering that children have symptoms to a far, far lesser extent than adults, it’s not a terrible question to ask. I was shocked to see it that much lower to be honest. But still, half as likely doesn’t mean won’t.

True, but it does add a layer of complexity. I guess the question is if they transmit it 50% less, how does that propagate throughout the population and does that fall within a tolerable range?

It's all risk management... literally all of it. That's why it's so complicated. Nothing in this is 0 or 10. It's somewhere in between.

I've been saying that for years on here. People just laugh it off.

We spend a lot of time/resources as a species protecting our most frail people...maybe extending the shittiest part of someone's life isn't good business...

I am an old guy, but I definitely agree with this. I don't want to end up in a nursing home being fed and bathed and not knowing my kids names.

And I'm not saying it's easy or even morally right or anything like that...but just keeping it going when you're not a real feasible human seems like bad business to me...

That's why I live my life like I do...I'm racking up the odometer at probably 2x or 3x what normal people do because you can't save up your time...time is undefeated...if I lose it all at 60 or whatever, that's that...at least I'll look back and not have any regrets about how I used my time...

I didn't and don't propose anything...Futurama had an idea...but I don't know what you do, it's above my paygrade...

People don't want babies, so they ax'em...maybe some people don't want to go on like this, they should be able to be let go at a minimum...

So are you're talking about right to die/death with dignity? Because that's totally different than your original post.

Nope. If I can't remember anything and can't do things like feed myself and walk to the bathroom I'm done. Ever see the movie "Grumpy Old Men"? That is me.

I think that's the minimum...I think that's a lay-up step in the process. Where you take it from there, is another story. I think with our insane population and the horrific problems that over-population causes, I think the feasibility and even ethics of population explosion is a worthwhile discussion that will never be had...

Other animals allow their weak to die to extend the viability of the rest...as humans, we embark on population control when over-population of species threatens our resources...nothing natural keeps us in line except for disease really...

I don't know, the whole life being sacred thing involves too much cognitive dissonance for most people involved to hold the bag on...so, it just depends on where you want to go from there...
