7 new hospitalizations is somewhat alarming
Yeah hospitalizations are clearly rising. That makes 30 for the past week. And according to everybody's favorite redditor, the last time we have 30 in a week was 5/15-5/21.
How many discharged in that same time period though?
No clue as the county/state doesn't release that info. That doesn't change the fact that hospitalizations are rising.

We have no clue if hospitalizations are rising.

Would be nice if they reported newly admitted, newly discharged, and deceased. Wouldn't mind length of stay data. Without all of that, all we see is 30 people in the door in a week and think "oh crap"

Sure. But are the hospital stays as long as before? That is something that needs reported.

Sure we do. We have more people going into the hospital now than were a few weeks ago. The county/state has never reported length of stay stats. They do, however, report ICU usage, and as far as I know we have not seen any significant increase there.

Good god. I mean, I decided I would vote against the GOP indefinitely after the Bush years, but I really just find these people inept at this job,

Health care workers aren't getting infected? As of yesterday, ACHD reported that 11% of cases in the county were healthcare workers.

Aside from that false claim, the notion that schools could just naturally implement the measures hospitals take to keep people safe is a frightening level of ignorance from someone in that position.

anecdotally, many of the healthcare workers that are becoming sick are community acquired - not from taking care of patients

Right, the part of that comment I was flippant about is the "if hospitals can do it, why can't schools" proposition.

Oh got you. Yeah, if hospitals can be a sterile environment, why can't schools?

It's not just the stupidity of thinking schools can implement the same mitigation measures as hospitals, it's founded in the notion that the only mitigation measures at a hospital are masks and 6' of separation.

Allegheny Co. officials to provide a COVID-19 update as cases continue to spike, 204 new cases reported
https://www.wpxi.com/news/top-stories/a ... UPVMVYL4A/

My guess is they're going to announce the continuation of the bar/restaurant closures. My hunch would be they're going to announce these week-by-week but who knows. I picked up take-out over the weekend and the owner of the restaurant said rumor was it would be a month-long closure.
By the way, today's update provided nothing new. They did say that they hope to have a plan/new orders provided by EOD tomorrow so we'll see what happens then.

Looks like a lot of deaths for US in world meter today. Hopefully it is just the usual Tuesday peak. With the way deaths are reported, Tuesday is always the peak day for deaths.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. (KDKA) — Washington County commissioners confirm that the state will announce targeted mitigation efforts for several counties in southwestern Pennsylvania.

The announcement is expected to come on Wednesday, and it will impact the restaurant industry, as well as the number of people allowed to gather in a group.
I'm guessing no indoor dining and no groups larger than 10 for all of SW PA.
