COVID-19

Postby PFiDC » Thu Jul 02, 2020 1:08 pm

This thing has really made me come to grips with how old im getting. Quarantine has me spending lots of time sitting on the porch and then getting mad at how fast cars are driving down the street. Then last night I was on the verge of yelling out the window as fireworks woke me from a deep, wonderful slumber at 10:15pm
My man. Especially now that I have had children, I get pissed when the yutes drive fast through our neighborhood. Thankfully we live in a cul-de-sac so we don't deal with thru traffic, but I definitely shouted "Slow down!" at someone just last night.
We've come a long way. :fist:

There's no way that stretch of Bigelow should be 25 mph. 70-75 easy.

Moderna vaccine trials delayed a few weeks. Not sure if that means setback.

Herman Cain, the Godfather’s Pizza magnate who twice ran for president and was briefly considered as a potential Federal Reserve Board nominee under President Donald Trump, was hospitalized Wednesday and is being treated for the coronavirus.

Cain, 74, was told Monday that he had tested positive for the disease, according to a statement posted to his official Twitter account. By Wednesday, he “had developed symptoms serious enough that he required hospitalization,” the statement said.
Seems likely he either already infected, or got sick there.

I hope not. I saw this in the article:
“My understanding was that they wanted to get the first vaccines given in July, and they say they’re still committed to do that,” one investigator told STAT News. “As best I can tell, they’re close to being on target for that.”

In response to the report, Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel told CNBC’s Meg Tirrell, “we have always said July. And I confirm July.”

Just to warn you guys, it doesn't get any better. I am just a nasty grumpy old man wondering what ever happened to "respect your elders"

We've got all these schools saying they're going to be in person come fall... August isn't that far away. I highly doubt the numbers are going to go super low by then. When this all first started, my initial thought (without realizing how deadly it is to the older generation) was "let's all just f*cking get it and get it done with...". Looks like we might be going that route anyways.

I really don't think it's possible to keep the schools closed. They just need to figure this **** out.

schools around here are giving parents the choice. you can send them back for in-person learning under specific rules or you can continue to keep them at home and distance learn.

Hopefully this helps, but we know that people will just go to Butler, Beaver, Westmoreland, etc counties instead.

my office return to work plan was to start 7/6 but has now been delayed indefinitely.

Ice rink sent email stating they will still resume games next week but masks are required the entire time outside of when you're actually on the ice

We go into phase 3 soon, which means museums, movie theaters, and stuff can open. Bars (without food)/nightclubs are not allowed open until phase 4, which doesn't happen until a vaccine is present. Given bars seems to be an issue everywhere, it makes sense. Most places here serve food so I think it mostly is affecting nightclubs. Bars that serve food are only allowed do table service, so no sitting at the counter or crowding allowed.

I read another story from mid-june that posited the same hypothesis. It's more infectious, but less lethal.

Sorry I meant kiss of death for the virus. If you make it too infectious and not lethal, the cure will come in no time and it’s back to the start screen.

Nah man. You want it to unknowingly infect everyone before it shows symptoms and then turns deadly.
