COVID-19

Postby faftorial » Sun May 24, 2020 8:39 pm

Had a covid-19 test today with the short swab and it still hurt. Made my eyes water afterward.
I’m guessing you’re experiencing symptoms or have been exposed? Either way, I hope the results are negative and if it isn’t, I hope you’re feeling better soon.
No, have heart catheterization on Tuesday and everyone going in the hospital needs a test 2 days prior.

I think they just take your temp.

I have to be there at 7:30 and am expecting to be released by noon.

Some facilities are doing this. Some aren’t. Those that are have really been doing it to test the accuracy of antibody tests and other rapid test assays

When I went to get my heart cath and then stent I did not get checked. Only checked my temperature, but I was alone in a room with no visitors and only dealt with masked nurses. That was at the local hospital in Washington PA.

People can't seem to decide if they want to drive 15 mph under the limit or 43 mph over it. But those are apparently the only two options now.
I had a similar experience on 95 yesterday. Of course all of tje slow ass drivers were in the left 2 lanes with the right lanes open

This is exactly what Penn is doing. It also depends on what kind of procedure you’re having, as that will determine which test you receive.

Fun with numbers

This is the kind of information I want to see.

So even if they are adding in other deaths to the COVID count, you can see the number over average.

They swabbed both sides. Does that mean I had both tests?

From what I remember from that one woman's video from when this started, swabbing both sides is SOP for the COVID test.

Is this really that surprising, though? These are all high risk people in a single location, unable to leave.

We were just informed that High School soccer conditioning will start July 1.

Assume that date is subject to change or there will be substantial restrictions. Can't imagine if there is still social distancing in place that's going to happen.

Curious as to what Michigan looks like... Is it possible the flip side of this is the higher the number the better in terms of the control measures? Places like NY and Louisiana where there have been known outbreaks that have just torn through the community look like their numbers are lower. Maybe the nursing home numbers are higher in areas where the community spread isn't as bad?

Or maybe I'm just talking out of my ass and have no idea what I'm talking about. That's pretty normal too.

Over the weekend, a family member let me know that they believe COVID-19 is a man-made virus aimed at killing off old people in order to ease our social security/pension debt.

When PA started reported separate information for nursing home cases, the rate was somewhere around 62%. So that rate has gone up a lot in the past month or six weeks.

This is my thought. I think nursing homes have been hit hard everywhere, but in states where there was a higher general outbreak, obviously those percentages for the nursing homes will be lower to the overall population.

That's why I don't think Minnesota or other states with high nursing home percentages is neceissarily a bad thing. (just using simple math) Minnesota could have had 100 cases of COVID, 81 being at the nursing home, where NYC could have had 1,000 cases, with 81 being at a nursing home. That's 81% vs 8.1%, but the same number of cases.
