dang, our CEO just extended our work from home period until the end of the calendar year. I think they'll let people optionally come in if they want to at some point but that's at least cool
tbh for places that can do it (my company being a software company, it's relatively easy for us), it should be optional until a vaccine is out

I've been saying since day one that one of the long-term effects of this will be the abandoning of commercial office space.
COVID-19
Our office is still pushing for a phased return starting June 1. I'll likely be the final phase but it's still dumb because we'll still be in the yellow where telework should continue where possible, and based on the last two months, telework is obviously possible.

We are still WFH until further notice. My company (Philips) just built a brand spanking new building next to Google. It's not done yet, and construction got delayed during the shut down, but I'm sure after spending all that money they aren't going to have us go full WFH.
Before the pandemic they had staggered WFH between teams. Everyone is home 2 days a week, and the teams that were in the office rotated depending on the day. The new building is designed to be all open space too... soooo it's going to be interesting. Last update I heard the earliest anyone was moving on got pushed to early next year rather than fall of this year.
Our group has suffered no downturn in work put out since being at home, so I know our direct manager is in no hurry to get anyone back in the office as we have proven we can get things done. Honestly from the Dev side there is really no need for anyone to be in the office at all.

my SO has been full time WFH since early March and she is loving it. she works cyber security for a financial company and has always hated her team's space in the building. IMO they had them all crammed in too small a space and the ventilation was poor. she was afraid to ask for WFH before because she didn't want to be seen as a problem child. she's now seeing the benefits of WFH and I think will try to do it for as along as she can.
the biggest benefit is that she gets 2 hours of her day back because she doesn't have to commute every day. she can put those hours to use doing classwork while she gets her masters in cyber security online.

We want to emphasize there is a cure. There is a solution that works 100 percent," Dr. Henry Ji, founder and CEO of Sorrento Therapeutics, told Fox News. "If we have the neutralizing antibody in your body, you don't need the social distancing. You can open up a society without fear."

I'm sure a lot of adult recreational sports are struggling with when it will be safe to resume. my league is no different. the deniers are, of course, the loudest voices on social media. one of our members is a cardiologist at the VA here. she posted this to shut them all up:
I have strong opinions well supported by data, and will happily discuss personally but don't want to get into pointless arguements on Facebook. One comment: I have colleagues that have contracted Covid. One died
Every day I'm walking into the hospital, seeing patients in the wards, ICU, ER. Every day might be the day I get exposed. Do you want to sit next to me on the bench?

I dont think my place is anywhere close to opening back up yet. They're certainly not going to throw 2k people into a 4 floor buidling all at once, and I dont know if they're trying to reorganize a floor plan or what because of course cubes are right on top of each other. The only thing that chaps me is during my performance review in March they offered me WFH up to 3 days/week instead of my normal 1 as sort of a TYFYS as I've been there a good while now. If everyone moves home I'll miss out on my air of superiority i was hoping to feel over all the Monday-Friday desk jockeys.
COVID-19
Hope they find a cure because if not almost everything will be from home. Work from home, sports from home, eat from home, drink from home, doctor from home, education from home. Social distancing and social networking will take over. Proof is I post way toooo much on this board which is my only social networking.
I also have an on-line doctor visit at noon today.
Just an old guy rant.

My soccer league said it will start back up once we’re green. So who knows when that’ll happen.

Well....yeah
COVID-19
After the good report yesterday, a not so good report today. Allegheny County: 1582 Cases (+31 Cases, +7 Hospitalizations, +2 Deaths). Don't know there is a cause for the increased cases such as a reporting lag.

569 Tests counted today (+99 from yesterday)
31 positive cases yields a 5.45% daily positive rate
Cumulative positive rate has dropped to 6.84% (-0.04 from yesterday)
Things to keep in mind as we head into the yellow phase today (Happy Yellow Day?!?). Case increases, like the one we saw today are inevitable, especially when test batches come in. However, they don't necessarily point to any negative trends. However, if we see sustained growth of the daily positive rate, a re-increase of the cumulative positive rate, or a noted sustained growth in hospitalizations, then those would be 'red flags' of a possible resurgence in our area.

You don’t. I’d assume by the time we’re at green there’ll be minimal risk to playing contact sports. How do you social distance soccer?

My client isn't going back into their offices until 2021. They're a large bank and have about 50 people working in their offices right now out of thousands. I work in facilities management so that's a little worrisom for me but I've been assured we have enough projects to get us through. Not happy about it though.

Maybe for a year or so, but at a certain point sports will return. There’s no way we just stop all organized sports and wait for a cure. We’ll see though.
