I lasted three weeks of WFH before the boredom and inability to be motivated has kicked in.
Better than me! The sun is out and I can't concentrate on anything right now.

I'm now at 7 years of 99% WFH and the fear of losing the ability to WFH always keeps me in line.

I've found that the way I can make this work is in bursts. With a kid around, I am up and down frequently, but I am moving and cancelling and declining meetings constantly some days.

I definitely work in bursts. Some are more concentrated than others. Some are pretty passive and involve a quarter to a third of my attention.

Yeah, I only really work on certain days...we're slow as a group right now, so I don't need to be hands-on...and all the special projects I'm assigned, I concentrate my effort on...so I'll do 2 or 3 days worth of work in one day and spare, say, a Monday for watching archived Russian junior hockey games or working out or doing some stickhandling drills in my basement or whatever I need to do to keep me sane...

I work on momentum almost exclusively...so I've found that concentrating tasks is an efficient way for me to get things done in this environment...

I am even less motivated now that I received an email from the CEO saying the raises we were supposed to get this month aren't happening, they're no longer doing 401k match - but hey, we need you to work even harder now to get this merger done!

Same. These past few weeks have been a challenge getting my daughter's schoolwork going, but only because of the format being used.

Bursts is good. But honestly it's not that different than the office. In fact my bursts at home actually have a bit more focus and for a longer period of time, because it is much harder for some idiot to interrupt me for something meaningless.

We got a similar email two Fridays ago. Announced no raises for the year 4 days before raises were to kick in. Haven't worked the same since.

I guess I should clarify, I'm no LESS productive this past 3 weeks than I have been while at work. Just goes to show how pointless meetings ruin you.

Yeah, I think I need to find some strategy to keep going/motivated. I certainly have tasks, but one of them is like "write dissertation", which is not an isolated task to be done in bursts. Have to boil things down a bit.

I realized that I have so much more time now than when I am at work. I tend to be the "of course I'll help!" person. So without people being around me, I end up opening up a significant portion of my day. I don't think I fully realized how much I focus on helping other people than doing my own work.

I basically told my boss I'll be available during core hours, but expect me to work most productive from like 7-10PM and 12-3PM, during napping/sleeping hours with my toddler.

Saaaaame here. In the office I probably spend half the day doing that, 1/4 of the day strategizing with my boss, and 1/4 of the day actually doing productive work. Then spend 2 or 3 hours a night catching up.

Now I have like 3/4 of the day to do productive work.

We're in the middle of an organizational transition that was started last year and scheduled for April 1st. So I'm keeping pretty busy because it wasn't very well planned out and the execution is suffering for it. Some frustrating pieces but it keeps me busy.

Is Zoom free? Looks like it is but limited to 40 min meeting for more than 3 participants. Correct?

Yup 40 min limit for the free Zoom. By the way, 40 minutes is plenty of time for a family Zoom call.

There will still be restrictions, though.
