My friend and her mom went to the ER with symptoms, they sent them home saying to assume you have it.There was some head of some health organization from PA on the news last night essentially saying that in PA they aren't continuing to test more, especially for non-severe cases. She said pretty much: "if you have the symptoms of COVID-19, just assume that it's COVID-19. Don't go get tested, stay home unless it's severe enough to get medical attention." I recall her even saying at one point that the "confirmed numbers" are very much underestimating the number of cases in PA because they're not testing everyone and anyone with symptoms.

Self isolating is the only way we can move forward with our current testing capacity. I think it's pretty much beyond the point of what South Korea was able to do.
Kind of a given that the tourism, entertainment and dining industries are **** for most all of 2020.

I did read an article on the FDA allowing the emergency use of a device from Abbott Diagnostics that can detect a positive case in as little as 5 minutes and confirm a negative case in 13...

I see certain states like Texas and RI are requiring quarantines for people entering their states from certain other states and cities without testing. Not sure what to think of this but I guess it may be OK in these conditions.

My wife works in Lab IS and has been building these COVID-19 tests as they come in. The amount of time she has had to wait for others to get her information is frustrating, because this should be a top priority. I think she just moved the 15 minute test to Production in the last day or so, though I believe those are currently just for employees.I did read an article on the FDA allowing the emergency use of a device from Abbott Diagnostics that can detect a positive case in as little as 5 minutes and confirm a negative case in 13...

Also, where are we seeing that testing is going up? Looks basically flat at 100K per day.

No. At least not until the testing capacity is there to test folks who dont need medical help. That has to be the wrong approach, no? Limiting our testing is going to bite us eventually.

South Korea, from what I have read and from two coworkers who are from Korea, have limited restrictions on life really other than everyone wearing masks and quarantines for 2 week for foreigners
The main reason they can do this is they test everybody. If we could test in large numbers, I would expect a lot of these restrictions to be eased

What I find encouraging in that link is that despite testing being limited to only those showing severe symptom, the positivity rate is hovering around 15-16%. For only testing the most symptomatic/severe people, you'd think that number would be higher.https://covidtracking.com/us-daily/

I would guess E.So why can't we test?
We have too many people?
Not enough PPE?
Not enough tests?
All of the above?
You need a pretty large mass mobilization effort to perform this task, kind of why the whole failure on the part of basically all of Europe and the US has put us here.

Considering the German company I work for pulled strings to get us opened back up, I am not surprised.https://www.businessinsider.com/coronav ... own-2020-3

This should is the way it should be. Instead of extending it, extending it, extending it. Just push that baby way out there, then you can pull back if need be.Dear goodness. This Stay-at-home order for Virginia is until June 10th.
