COVID-19
Decided to go full Wuhan beard. Havent trimmed at all in about 3 weeks, but do keep it clean around the edges. My brother, brother in law, and cousin's husband all have Wuhan staches. Wife wont let me.
Went to do my laundry yesterday, about 10 days worth. It consisted of 10 tee shirts, 5 pairs of gym shorts, 10 pairs of socks, 10 pairs of underwear, and 2 hoodies.
Also this week is my haircut due date. Gonna look like a moron in a month.

COVID-19
It's not even all Chinese companies. A huge percentage of US companies have their goods made in China because of the ridiculously low price of labor. It's never going to change. As soon as this covid19 is over american companies will be right back to buying their cheap garbage to fill our store shelves with cheap junk that everyone seems to want.

this. American workers will not work like Chinese workers and not for the money they make. it's an entirely different culture and that will never change.

Huh? I thought the quote from Fauci was 1.6-2.2m confirmed cases, not deaths?Birx said the projections by Dr. Anthony Fauci that U.S. deaths could range from 1.6 million to 2.2 million deaths is a worst case scenario if the country did “nothing” to contain the outbreak, but said even “if we do things almost perfectly,” she still predicts up to 200,000 U.S. deaths.

No, Fauci said millions of cases if we take action. Millions of deaths if we don't take any.

If I were smarter and more aware I would've cataloged all of these lofty projections then checked back in a year and see who was even remotely close. Probably could have gotten some reddit karma for it.

My best friend's wife is a nurse in Tucson. He's keeping it together but I'm slightly terrified for them. The first time I met her she was just in regular nursing school(?) and was too exhausted to say more than a couple mumbles before curling up with their baby. that pic a few pages back looks worse. One of their daughters is type-2. Fts.

Schoology is down, probably due to the vast number of schools starting online education this week.
Not surprising given that it was not made to be the primary education tool.

My kids have been on Schoology all morning, no issues here. Hopefully (or maybe not?) it will be back up for you soon.

I imagine all of the predictions are based on unknown timelines for vaccines and treatment.
COVID-19
Allegheny County Update: Now at 290 cases, +25 from yesterday's report. It's the second day in a row of decreasing cases. +61 on Saturday, +46 on Sunday, +25 today. Too early to call it a trend and without testing numbers it's hard to really tell much. But I'll take it as good news.

Like meow says it makes sense to pressure authorities. Because to the public the projections freak out people taking it seriously but justify the "hoax" for those who aren'tYeah the only purpose I can think of for these projections is to try to get the attention of people who are somehow still not taking this seriously.

So someone who is better at numbers than I:
based on this information:
https://www.penncapital-star.com/covid- ... -counties/
Schools have been closed for 17 days and bars/restaurants/etc have been closed two weeks. The number of confirmed cases has grown by
693 (today)
643
533
531
576
271 (March 25)
At what point do social distancing measures start kicking in? Or are we seeing some benefit now? The problem with this is that we have a lot of coverage but i wish i could find some more explanations from people actually good at math and stats vs. a poser like myself.

I hadn't heard about this last week.Waste workers in Pittsburgh on Wednesday refused to do collections after they said two colleagues had tested positive for coronavirus and the sanitation department hadn’t told them. In a live stream on Facebook, workers said they wanted masks and hazard pay. The mayor’s office said the city is following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance and gives workers gloves.

People die from things other than COVID, so the numbers are probably a bit less than the 43k estimation or whatever
But still, it's pretty clear that China is lying about their numbers
