Really good, thanks. Other than going out to walk the dog she hasn't left the house since her most recent chemo.

I went for a walk today with my wife and daughter, which is the first time I’ve spent more than 2 minutes outside in over a week. Felt good, and everyone seems to adhere to the 6’+ distance thing.
Was at work today, elevator felt like Russian Roulette. Can I make it 22 floors without Typhoid Mary stumbling into the car with me?

I have srarted taking the express elecators to improve my odds.

We had a rough day today. I’ve got a killer sore throat and the fiancé is hurting with a sinus infection. Add that we both suffer from anxiety and it’s not a great mixture right now. I don’t think we have it but I REALLY don’t want to have to go see a doctor for my throat.

Coronavirus party is probably a lot like chicken pox parties. Everyone get together so you can get the disease together and just get it done and over with.
I mentioned this here one time and was shouted down as some sort of heretic.
I mean, HIV parties are actually a thing, so chicken pox parties almost seem tame (even if they are stupid in their own right) by comparison.

Would seem to me HIV parties are for those that are positive and do not have to concern themselves with infecting others, yes?

I have to think in this climate, if you believe you have strep, your doctor would call in an amoxicillin script without doing a throat culture, right?

My grandmother lives in a nursing home and developed a low-grade fever and cough. They took her to the ER, where it was determined she has strep, and didn't give her a corona test. I guess they're pretty confident. So now she's in quarantine alone because she had to leave the nursing home. Previously it was just the nursing home not allowing any visitors, but now she's isolated. Then today a patient where my aunt works (chiropractor's office) was found to have tested positive. So everyone in the office has to get tested. She should find out in a day or two. Crazy.

I think the state of Washington is at or very near their peak. They have been hovering around 200 new cases a day for the past several days.

My mother is out of her statin medicine and her podunk doctor refuses to give her a refill until she comes into the office. So, she has to go to the office tomorrow morning. I'm absolutely livid.

She called and asked them to phone in a refill and they wouldn't?

Yep. She explained that she didn't feel comfortable going out right now (she hasn't been out of the house in 12ish days) and the nurse said, "We'll give you 14 days but not a pill more." My mother said she'd have to think about it and might just stop taking her medicine and the nurse came back with "That's your choice."

I figure things will likely be worse in 14 days so she may as well get there asap.

For cholesterol meds?

Her pharmacy won't fight the doctor for a refill?

Unreal...

Get the 14 day refill and go from there. Theres not going to be a greater chance of infection 14 days from now than there is now. Plus you can probably win another 14 days at the 14 day mark

Yep, pravastatin. And she's been on it for 20 or so years so it's not like she's a new patient and desperately needs blood work.

I usually get a text when her script is ready and was expecting it yesterday. When there was still nothing today I called the pharmacy and they said the doc refused to authorize and I'd have to call the office. That's when they pulled the "You have to come in for an appointment" crap.

I’d call the state health department to see if they could do something for her.

She already set up the appt. 7:45 tomorrow morning so she should be the first patient of the day. I told her not to touch anything or get close to anyone and I'll be sending her in with a bottle of hand sanitizer.

I think that GA number might be under reporting.
This isn’t necessarily true. It is still a very bad flu season and a high incidence of other acute respiratory illnesses. This is going To be a challenge for us locally since there are still a number of sick non-COVID patients that need critical care
