And they have a wildcard in Burdi.

Alford is an interesting pickup as well, for one, he is actually a centerfielder, right? So an extended audition is a nice throwaway season perk.

Kuhl coming back strong is also good, but next year Taillon and archer are likely going to be auditioning for trades in 2021,
So still hard to envision where 2020 surprises fit in beyond this year.

Nothing more American than baseball, apple pie, and TL's neverending optimism of the Buccos.

There’s zero chance Archer’s option gets picked up. Taillon’s arm is scotch taped together because this franchise won’t bother to splurge for the duct tape. There’s nothing less reliable in this world than no-name bullpen arms doing something good for a month. Alford is a bum and if he plays CF where does Tucker go because apparently EGone and JT Riddle are the future. This team is gonna suck until all of us die from natural causes at the age of 140 after adopting Bryson DeChambeau’s lifestyle methods.

2020 surprises fit anywhere you need them to. There are far more spots than guys.

Tucker is OK. His ceiling is probably Adam Frazier though. I dont care quite as much as before that hes playing in center. Its not like he's going to forget how to shortstop.

Archer is gone. 100%.

Burdi is likely to get TJ again this off-season honestly. As is Clay Holmes.

Crick is a wild card. Maybe he gets it back together? There's steroids boy Edgar Santana next year too.

What we need to hope for is that GMBC can continue to find value players to keep seats warm for guys we don't yet have. Although Cruz, Hayes, Gonzalez is kind of an exciting prospective infield.

Its really interesting to think of what happens to the young-ish guys. Newman and reynolds specifically. I would probably deal them in a year or two once they hit arbitration if they have good value.

He was a first round pick, he has a higher ceiling than Adam Frazier. How likely it is he achieves that is up for debate. But if things go right he could be very good. I think he has more value at SS though

Good. I was hoping he wasn't already being seen as not reaching Frazier's upside hah. But with how negative things are I had to wonder if that's where you were at

I think he's had a solid 10 game or so stretch as well. It's just infuriating to not see him at SS at all.

Though on a related note - I hate to say it but Gonzalez hasn't been bad

Alford has speed and base running intelligence.

He took a great secondary lead at third last night, allowing him to score on a barely bobbled wild pitch. He even hesitated before starting home.

Gonzalez is hitting like 212 in his past 60 at bats. NOT SOLD

E gomzalez is also 29. Regarding my frazier comparison...

Tucker has never succeeded at the plate at any level nearly as much as frazier did. Being picked in the 1st round gives you a higher ceiling at first, but its irrelevant 6 years after you were drafted.

He will be leaps and bounds better than frazier in the field, at any position, so that is unfair. But if he hits as well as frazier id be shocked.

Net frazier.

By the way, Trevor Williams is a non-asset at this point and Musgrove is trending in that direction.

Although I guess if you can get 243k of International slot money for Jarrod Dyson who was hitting like .002 then anything is possible.

Can't Tucker just tweak his launch angle? lulz

But yeah it's tough to stop dreaming on his size. But I've almost never seen his swing. Just remember some early power in his debut month

Hayes benched tonight, too tired I guess.

Alford got hurt too.

Just remember how difficult it was to be a 23 year old and how hard it was to recover from anything....hangovers, work, playing “14” innings of baseball.

I mean, how much work is it to play 14 innings of baseball? How often does your heart rate go above like 120 beats per minute? Like 6 times in a 3 hour game?

Of course it is.

I threw a perfect game with Joe Musgrove on The Show today. So that was good.

Meanwhile, with Ken Griffey Jr. in CF, the 2020 Buccos are still below .500 in April (with Taillon, Archer, and Musgrove healthy).

TIL the Yankees outscored the Pirates 55-27 in the 1960 WS. They won their three games 16-3, 10-0, and 12-0. Has to be a Top 3 upset in WS History given the Yankees powerhouse status at that time, no?

I wonder if the outcome would have been different had Stengel started Ford in Game 1. To leave him available for 7.

Why is Musgrove being pulled in the 4th (I'm behind in the game) in a scoreless game? Also, why is Frazier playing left field.
