MLB's murdering of MiLB is the most-destructive thing those bunch of morons have done.

It’s terrible. Minor league baseball is a drop in the bucket expense. The destruction of it is unnecessary and shortsighted.

MiLB is as American as apple pie and I'll be sad to see any team go, but competitively there's not a reason to have so many teams.

That's part of why I don't really care about analytics and WAR and all that stuff.

It's a game where a dude hits a ball thrown by another dude for other people's enjoyment.

Get science out of fun.

I wish I could have seen some games at old parks like Forbes and Tiger Stadium with the second deck hanging right over the field. Had to have been some awesome seats

My Dad took me to several games there. It was a treat just watching Clemente doing pre-game warm up firing balls to third and home from deep right. Most were perfect one bouncers right on the bag.Throws to first and second were just straight line bullets.

DK is reporting that the Pirates and PNC are “far apart” on naming rights for the stadium. They signed a COVID-19 friendly one year deal, but remain distant on a longer term deal.

Evidently, Heinz Field will be renamed at some point soon.

I'd probably just continue calling it PNC Park. It's weird getting attached to a sponsor as the name but that's what I'm used to. I'd rather it be North Shore Park or something but it is what it is

Yeah, I’ll never call Bradenton’s stadium anything other than McKechnie Field.

And who the hell actually calls the Sears Tower the Willis Tower? That’s just dumb.

I'm honestly surprised that Heinz Field hasn't already changed names due to Heinz's financial issue, but apparently the 20 year deal they signed was a sweetheart of a below market value local discount ($2.85MM per year while even Buffalo is getting $5MM per year from New Era). I wonder when the new stadium nonsense will start. Both venues are a decade away from the age of Three Rivers when it got blowed up. The Steelers get what the Steelers want but the level of goodwill the Pirates have garnered in this city means they better plan on getting a Forbes Field lifespan out of PNC.

Well unless the fed decides to start funding new stadiums, i dont see where the stillers (or any other team in any city) in the foreseeable future is going to come up with the funds to pay for a stadium

Wow, that's hard to believe. PNC Park especially is still considered one of the nicest ballparks in the majors, isn't it? I feel like it could last a long time.

I imagine Bobby Nutting with a countdown clock in his office ending when the 30 year lease expires. He'll move the team to Las Vegas the day the lease is up.

And honestly if that happens, I wouldn't be too upset.

It would cost waaaaaay too much to move the team.

It is. The design is hard to top, the view is incredible, and the team sucking means it’s been lightly used in comparison to other ballparks.

You underestimate the spinelessness of mayors. No one wants to be the guy/girl responsible for a team leaving town.
