Didn't Matt Morris sign a giant contract, pitch like 3 games, then retire?

No we just cut his ass and ate 11 million bucks. Imagine how bad he was for the pirates to do that

when a guy with a career ops of 645 retires instead of playing for your organization, you got some real problems.Darren Lewis. Acquired from the cubs for Chad hermansenwho was the vet from the tigers i believe that retired after getting traded to the pirates? darrin or derrik or something like that. had a pretty good career prior to retiring before playing for the pirates. didnt craig monroe also do something similar?
also, lewis made over 13 million in his career. good for him

This was also I think the same year that they drafted Danny Moskos over Matt Wieters.

To answer my own question, Derek Bell with "Operation Shutdown" in 2002.There was another Pirate (right fielder maybe) who was a real dog when he signed here. Barely made an effort to run to first on easy outs. George Hendricks comes to mind but I don't think it was him. Maybe late 80's?

Man this was a great homestand before the break that year. I was there the night before and it was a wild walk off as well. Brown may have went a tad overboard but whatever

“The best game of all time in Pittsburgh?” WTF. It probably wasn’t even the best game that season.
He’s ridiculous.

Colin is a very good defender on balls hit from 6 inches outside his left shoulder to 6 inches outside his right.

What's the coach suppose to say to the media? "This guy is trash, I don't know why he's even playing baseball."

IIRC, they hid his limited range by shifting him and SS shifting. But yeah, range is his problem.

Dude earned $16 million prior to this year. But i'd take another mill on top of that at age 35.

Dyson is about 2 months younger than the kangaroo, so I'm pulling for the man to earn his cash and squeak out one more somewhat respectable year while maintaining his pride.
