It has come to a point in major league baseball that a player isn't available to pinch run because of rain delay and injury makes the task of running 180 feet impossible
That's embarrassing

Cole Tucker has played zero innings at SS this season. Fire Shelton.

Pirates are on pace for 12-48.

Single digit wins remain unlikely; unless you factor in Corona Cancellations. 20 wins is improbable, now, imo.

Del Bozo feels too obvious for a derogatory nickname, and I can't even recycle White Flag because Doofus McBeardy keeps bringing this schmuck in to pitch in meaningful spots.

They lost!? I saw it at 4-0 and figured they would finally get out of that tie with the Marlins. Well at least soon to be 29 year old Erik Gonzalez got some reps at SS.

Del Pozo had a 10.61 ERA last season and is at 12.27 for his career. How did this guy find a job outside the Frontier League?

the bullpen would suck if crick and feliz and holmes were not injured and kela was.....here? not sick? either way, that is four guys that were supposed to be part of a (bad) major league bullpen and now they arent. those guys stunk and the replacements are obviously going to suck more. so shelton is in a tough spot here.

Both MLB.com Prospect Watch and fangraphs have these two Vandy pitchers as the top 2021 draft prospects. Getting a plug and play NCAA stud SP would be ideal here if the target is a 2022-2023 start of the window.

MLB's just waiting to futz with the draft rules and steer the #1 pick to someone like St. Louis if the Pirates finish with the worst record.

that would be quite **** if that change were effective before the next draft. One would think a rule change could not be retroactively put in place.

Yeah, this isn’t the year to tank for a #1 overall pick.

Holland looked pretty good until the sixth inning, and a competent CF could’ve kept the Pirates ahead. But he hit a HR, which Dyson wouldn’t have done, so....

I just think it’s odd to start Tucker there in CF - one of the high skill positions - after only a few weeks of reps there in Summer Camp. Didn’t Reynolds play CF last year? Couldn’t you move Tucker into a corner position for a while?

It is like they aren’t trying to field their best team or something, which goes back to my first thought in this post.

They are on pace for a .200 season, which would break the Modern Era record by .035 and would be the 4th worst of all time.
1886-1899
1889 Louisville Colonels, 18-120, .122
1899 Cleveland Spiders, 20-134, .130
1890 Pittsburgh Alleghenys, 23-113, .169

2020 Pittsburgh Pirates, 12-48*, .200

1900-present
1916 Philadelphia A's, 36-117, .235

The one record that the Pirates shouldn't be able to break is the 1890 Alleghenys' worst road win percentage of .093, minimum of 60 games. The Pirates would have to win two games total, which would give them .067. Looking at their schedule so far, they are 0-7 on the road so maybe there's a chance it could happen.

Well, yes to Rocker, but Manfred may play fast and loose with how the draft rankings go in this short season.

And let’s be honest, Rocker would probably be a Boras client who’ll be gone before he hits his prime anyway.
