Perhaps if Alvarez hadn't pushed the Big Ten to move the start so far back or else perhaps there could have been contingencies.

A question for those who follow college football. I'm not a fan and never really have been, but I remember back when I was in college in the 90s it seemed like Florida-based teams like Florida, Miami, and Florida State were always in the running for the national championship. Now, it seems like a lot of those teams have fallen off the radar. What happened to the dominance of Florida football?

It still cracks me up that Mike Tirico vehemently denies he's black.

The era of 85 scholarships really helped level the playing field. Plus, there is so much talent in this state and there's only so many spots available at those 3 schools. All it takes is one or two guys leaving the state and having monster success and then you see pipelines established. Biggest of all maybe is that assistant coaches and recruiters who were at those 3 schools get jobs in other places and they keep those relationships alive and that's how Florida kids end up all over the country.A question for those who follow college football. Clemson loss was expected, away game, Lawrence out, missing 1/3 of their starting defense.
Rematch in Charlotte - basically a home game - with a healthy team in December will be great.
