Wait... Is this another year where Notre Dame is highly ranked and faces another highly ranked team and gets embarrassed? These sequels are so repetitive but for some reason, so entertaining

The last 10 years of college football at the top has been incredibly boring.

Last year's LSU being the only exception.

Alabama blows someone out, Clemson blows someone out.

It's sort of fun when your alma mater is involved though.

Bama, Clemson, and the second best team in the SEC are really all that matters. The first CFP championship was Ohio State over Oregon and that feels like a lifetime ago at this point.

I'm waiting for them to pick A&M over Clemson.

You can't pick A&M over Clemson now. Over Ohio State or Notre Dame, sure, but not Clemson.

I meant Notre Dame. No idea why I wrote Clemson.

If I was czar of college football, here would be my playoff matchups. Keep in mind that the format here is the 5 Power-5 conference champions, the best Group of 5 champion, and two wildcards. Quarterfinals played at campus sites on Jan 1 & 2. Semifinals played in Rose Bowl & Sugar Bowl on Jan 8 (8pm) & 9 (Noon - to avoid NFL playoffs). National Championship played on Jan 18. It's 2020, schedule adjustments expected.

January 1
8 Oregon (Pac-12) at 1 Alabama (SEC) 8pm ABC
7 Cincinnati (wildcard) at 2 Clemson (ACC) 1pm ABC
6 Coastal Carolina (Group of 5) at 3 Ohio State (Big Ten) 4:30pm ABC

January 2
5 Oklahoma (Big 12) at 4 Notre Dame (wildcard) 8pm ABC

Razor thin but undefeated record and conference title in a decent conference (sorry San Jose St) gets the nod.

I am 100% behind the 8 team format and the slots you used though. If the biggest drama is the 2nd wildcard, I'm so much happier

Yes, we'll get the whining in the off year that the top G5 team is ranked 20 or something. But that seems to be happening less often these days

God damn I wish Clemson had pulled the win out in S Bend.

Not interested whatsoever in Bama Clemson ND and OSU.

Will root for any team that replaces any of them but don’t see it happening even with ND losing by 24 and OSU only playing Northwestern and Indiana.

In those years, the G5 would get the 8 seed and be destroyed by the 1 seed. The problem you may run into one year is a 2 or 3-loss G5 team that gets in over a 1-loss P5 team. But that’s the breaks in the format. It’s ridiculous that half of D1 starts practice in August KNOWING they can’t win a national championship because of exclusionary practices.

On that topic, as a MACtion alum - that's the reality. Fact is, none of those teams realistically has a chance of winning it on the field regardless of the committee. The P5 will probably break away at some point. I'd prefer the G5 schools to be forward thinking and make the first move instead of picking up the scraps when they leave the NCAA.

When the MAC was originally going to play in the spring, I thought it was going to be a good trial balloon to see how that would look. I think the G5 schools going to a spring schedule and playing for their own championship as a level between 1-AA and the P5 would be much more entertaining and also get some more eyeballs in the spring.

Notre Dame gets the Notre Dame Treatment. The CFP is a joke at this point. Needs to be expanded immediately.

I love Notre Dame bashing as much as the next person, but they went 10-1 while beating Clemson once already. Who should be in over them? If anything, Notre Dame is #3 but they ranked them 4 so they weren't playing Clemson again in the semis.

I'd buy Cinci over them but I don't think A&M should jump in after sitting out championship weekend
