Eat at flx wienery when u go to the finger lakes.
This gentleman loves those roads that run along the Finger Lakes. All kinds of fun places to stop, and of course bookended with cute towns/small cities at each end of the lake usually.

The next time I go up there, I really want to visit the Glenn Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport. I've heard nothing but great things.

Do the architectural boat tour. Check out the Aquarium and Field Museum if you get the time. Navy Pier is a tourist trap and a PITA to get to. Skip it.
This.

I’ll put it on my shortlist of possible stops. We’re only there one night as a stop between Quebec City and pgh. My dad mentioned Belhurst Castle and Winery so that may be where we end up.

Heading to Chicago on Monday for business. Will be there 4 days. Any recommendations from 5AFers who have been there?
I agree with the architecture tour. Be sure to walk around the Tribune building on Michigan Ave. (Magnificent Mile) right on the river.

I’m more low rent, so a Chicago Dog or Italian Beef from Downtown Dogs at Rush and Chicago. Pippin’s Tavern next door is a good locals bar with a nice variety of beers...and you can order food from next door and they will deliver it.

Just around the corner from there is Streeters Pub downstairs. DD will also bring food there. If nothing else, stop in here and use the men’s room. Trust me. It’s interesting.

Hancock Tower is good especially on a nice day. And the Chicago Water Tower is one of the few buildings that survived the great fire.

Rudy’s down by The Bean serves a great burger with fresh cut fries and cold beer. And yes, you should see the Bean.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Definitely making time for the architecture tour.

I found a blues club that has an open stage on Tuesday nights so I'm really looking forward to that. To play the blues in Chicago is kind of a dream of mine.

I didn't really get the excitement of the Au Cheval burger.....if you can get in though I highly recommend any Stephanie Izard restuarant. Girl and The Goat (good luck getting a reservation), Little Goat Diner, Duck Duck Goat (we ate there a few weeks ago and really liked it).
if you like Asian I recommend Urban Belly: https://www.urbanbellychicago.com/

I haven't been personally but I've heard good things about The Purple Pig.

So my wife wants to go on a cruise next year for our 15th anniversary.

She doesn't want a bunch of ports of call or things like that.

Any advice welcome.

Yes. Just looking at Travelocity one of those cruises that is like 3-5 days and goes out and comes back to Miami, etc... might be what she would probably like best.

Well, I don't think you're obligated to disembark when they dock.

Do you want to stay 'local', as in the US and A? I was thinking one of the European river cruises.

Looking at the cost of the Euro River ones we'd best stay local.

May, August, or September.

May, August, or September.

Royal Caribbean would be a good choice. You can find the western Caribbean Cruises of theirs with only two ports of call for their 5 day cruises.

They will run you from anywhere from 480/person to about 700/person.

Just keep in mind that August and September are some of the peak months of hurricane season.

The cruises will likely be cheaper then, but you take your chances.

Purple Pig is outstanding. They have a section on the menu called 'smears'.

Oh, forgot Buddy Guy’s Legends but pretty sure any blues club in Chicago will have fantastic blues.

Has anyone here ever visited Yellowstone National Park? We're considering visiting next summer, but I'm not sure there's actually enough to do out there to fill an entire week. My daughter will be 6, so I'm also not sure how much hiking she'll be able to do.

Edit: Or Yosemite National Park, which I think might be a better option (allows us to also go to SF).
