Good to know, thanks. And yes, we're definitely taking advantage of Extra Magic Hours (Epcot for our trip). We're all early risers, so I intend to be at the gates before they even open. My wife thinks we should try coming back for naps for our 4 year old, but I think I'd rather just forego that at first and see how it goes. She's already the worst napper ever.
I don't have kids, but I do know that many people recommend returning to your resort around 2 or 3 pm to recharge the little ones. Then go to dinner and return to the parks. We always stay the full day. The park does thin out some just before dinner so lines are noticeably shorter. Another great time to ride is during the night shows if you don't mind missing the fireworks.

We're definitely going to play that by ear, though I did book most of our FastPass stuff for before 2pm, just in case.

My kids took turns sleeping in the stroller back in 2014, and they were a little older than your 4 year old back then. They were exhausted lol.

We stayed in a condo about 10-15 minutes away in February, and after our 10+ hours at Magic Kingdom my eight and ten year olds fell asleep before we were out of the parking lot. They NEVER sleep in the car any more, and they were unconscious by the time we got back to where we were staying.

Out of curiosity, were you able to get fast passes for Flight of Passage?

Yes, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train during the fireworks is pretty awesome. We managed to get another Fast Pass right before the fireworks started, and got to watch it while on the ride. Really excellent.

I didn't even try, to be honest. I watched the POV videos on YouTube and knew that my daughter would either be scared or wouldn't enjoy it very much. We're basically doing all of the safaris on our Animal Kingdom day. We are doing the Na'vi River Journey, though.

Soarin' is really cool...despite the warnings, it's great for all kids.

That makes sense. I just know it's been a tough fast pass to snag and unless you arrive 45 minutes before rope drop, you're looking at an easy 90 min wait.

Man, I just watched the video, and really want to give that a shot now. Of course, I waited too long, and don't see it when I attempt to modify one of my FastPass selections for that day, not even in the 'unavailable' area.

Hit Soarin' first thing at rope drop and you'll be fine.

That's what we did...and we were able to ride it again before we left. Epcot and Animal Kingdom don't have as many FastPass type rides (although the Avatar stuff wasn't open yet when we were there in February), so it's a little easier to get later FastPasses.

We've got breakfast scheduled for 8:55am at Garden Grill, but given that this is an Extra Magic Hours day, I think I'm going to try and hit up Soarin' first thing. Which brings me to my next question - I have read that if you're late to a dining reservation, they should be able to slot you in based on your original time (so if two parties were late, the earlier reservation would still go before the later one). Has anyone done this before?

They won't hold your reservation for more than 15 minutes.

Hmm, okay, thanks. I guess I'll be playing that by ear, as well. If we get to Soarin' right after the park opens, we have just over an hour to go through the ride and get to Garden Grill. I'm going to be positive about this and say that this seems doable.

The garden grill is in the same building as soarin, so you will be fine.

Somebody should start a service that gets you food and serves it to you as you wait in the queue.

This is more about being able to keep your spot in line and skip sitting down for a meal.

If you're at rope drop and you head straight to Soarin' you shouldn't have more than a 20 minute wait. As nobody said, Soarin' is in the same building as Garden Grill so you should be fine. Garden Grill is great, by the way. It's a rotating restaurant and part of it overlooks a Living with the Land scene. Characters will come by while you eat as well.

I created a reminder to do just that. I'm hoping that it works out, because our afternoon is filled with Elsa.

If it comes down to riding Soarin' or eating at Garden Grill, you should go for Soarin'. You can always put your name in at Garden Grill and wait for an available table. Even if it's going to be an hour wait, you can use some of that time riding Living with the Land (16 minute boat ride) in that same building which rarely has any sort of line.

Came back from Yellowstone/Grand Tetons last Wednesday. Overall it was a great trip despite the winter weather and every dinner being a nightmare with our two young kids. I highly recommend it to anybody thinking about it. So much to do if you are into the outdoors: sight seeing, hiking, biking, camping, fishing, (maybe boating??) for the warmer months and skiing, snowmobiling, etc for the winter months.

Some good posts in here. Soarin is indeed a frigging blast. Mission Space is extremely fun too, although I do not recommend riding it after eating. Don't P out and ride the wimpy version either, do the full motion one.

Echo nocera earlier...Disney World is a vacation that is 100x more enjoyable if you do the up front work. Reserving meals, fastpass etc.
