I'm headed to Anchorage at the end of the month for work & play. I've got 2 days at Denali and a trip to Kenai Fjords on my docket. I've got 4 days to play with before I have to start the work portion of it. I've got a friend who's been there 3 times and she's given me plenty of trip recommendations but I'd be interested in anyone else who has had the experience that might pass along some knowledge.

We wanted to go on an Alaska cruise for our 20th (no $) then 25th (COVID and well, two kids in college so also no money). 30th maybe?

I was there in 2020. I did Denali and Kenai too. In Kenai, I can’t recommend enough doing the Harding Ice Field hike. It’s kind of tough (9 miles round trip but 3k feet in elevation change) but man the views are great and the ice field itself is otherworldly:

In Denali I did the Mt Healy Overlook trail. It was fun. Getting a good view of Denali itself was tough because it was pretty overcast when I was there

Next Tuesday. The first few days are gonna be rough. I have an overnight flight from Raleigh to Rekjyivic and then a nine hour layover there (which isn’t all bad because I’m expecting to leave the airport and get my first and maybe only Iceland experience). Then I have a flight to London that lands at 8PM local. I’m then gonna take an overnight train to Edinburgh and will hopefully arrive at St. Andrews for the Thursday round close to 10-11am

It’s gonna suck since it’ll be 60 hours or so without being able to sleep in a bed but oh well. I’ll be in St. Andrews

We did, and I really hope that things are better the next time that we do fly, because I don't want to have to do it again. The elastic on KN95s is super tight, and by hour 4 my ears were screaming.

I had COVID about 4 months ago (likely omicron) and have been vaxxed and boosted. Also, it's summer time. Were I to get it and/or my immediate family get it, it won't be as miserable being "stuck" at home. So no. I did not mask.

That said, if I hadn't gotten it a short while back and had it been during the school year where my wife's schedule is crazy, then yes. I would have worn a mask.

There was actually an outbreak at the conference that I was attending. Quite a few people got it at the conference and they even canceled a few of the events on the last day due to it. I came through with not so much as the sniffles.

Rehoboth? Dewey?

Guess it depends on what you consider "nice".

nice - a place with an above average place to stay that has a pool, access to beach, walkable to some restaurants. a plus would be a place that has some kids area/pool too

Rehoboth is one place that my friends seem to like. Never been there, personally. Just avoid NJ beaches, and @blackjack68.

Wife and I are trying to decide if we want to drive to Myrtle or Ocean City at the end of the month for like 3 or 4 days. Prices seem pretty crazy though.

Yeah... I took a quick look to see if a quick 3 or 4 day trip was doable with the Mrs and the little one. Prices are nuts in Ocean City right now.

So last year, we planned an OCMD trip in like two weeks, and found it to be super cheap. This year, looks like travel pricing is back on and full bore, because it's about 50-75% more expensive this year.
