Calgary, eh? This gentleman sees a lot of pedestrian trails, looks like it is adjacent to a river park. I support the City of Calgary in this matter. ;)

Just keep in mind, the fine is about 1/3 less in US dollars.

About 5 years ago I took the electronic toll road in the Toronto area (407?) where there are no toll booths and they instead use a camera system to track how long you're on the road and then send you the bill in the mail. Still haven't gotten that bill. I'd be willing to test the politeness of Canadians over speeding ticket forgiveness.

This isn't one of those instances where principled resistance gets you anywhere. Citing other places where people do not get done for speeding in other jurisdictions is meaningless. You said in your initial post "I was driving 41 in a 30", conceding the infraction. Just pay the fine and move on with your life.

I completely agree. I know for a fact that I am usually going with traffic down Kelly Drive which is usually about 50-55.

That said, when I was in Canada, I knew I did not want to take any chances due to my unfamiliarity with where the speed traps are and how aggressive each jurisdiction was. So even though I will go about 75 on the 30 Bypass through Coatesville/Downingtown when I drive to work (in a 55), I never went more than 9 km/h over the whole time I was in Canada.

$70? that's nothing. I had a cop pull me over just outside my neighborhood for "failure to stop at stop sign" though I was 99.99999999% sure I made a complete stop and certainly didn't just blow right through it. it was 1:30AM on a Friday night/Saturday morning so I'm pretty sure the cop was hoping he could bust me for DUI but I hadn't had a drop so he just made something up. couldn't prove it though so it ended up costing me $300. :o

When I get my next car I'm going to wire in a dash camera for that kind of thing.

Andy Richter is a hero and public executions for this kind of **** should be legal. Put the Singapore government in charge.

They say buried within every tool there lies a hammer. A hammer to the feet would be pretty sweet in that situation.

The human trash that flies on airlines is everywhere. A woman behind me in the window seat had her bare feet up with her toes poking through the side of my seat. I turned around and skipped straight from politely asking to telling her off. The lack of common courtesy and self-awareness never ceases to amaze me.

I've been considering getting a dash cam. a friend has one and it came in very handy recently when he was in a minor accident and the other guy tried to tell the cops that my friend ran a red light causing the accident. the footage from the dash cam proved that he didn't.

It's only a matter of time before dash cams become standard in cars.

I've seen enough weird **** on my travels through the hinterlands of SC to warrant a dash cam.

Like a few weeks ago, a completely naked dude - other than work boots - smoking a cigarette walking along the side of road in the middle of nowhere. Miles between houses, mostly pine forest and crop plots. Bizarre.

I've seen Tesla's with several cameras. They are part of the automatic driving system, but Tesla also allowed drivers to plug in a USB cable and retrieve the footage. Cameras are mounted on the front, rear, and sides.
