My son pointed out Andúril and Glamdring this weekend at the Ren fest. I noticed Sting and the MacLeod longsword. It's really cool to see people going all in on their costumes. Its fun that so many people participate, you actually feel out of place when you don't dress up.

The Eliot Ness Museum in Coudersport got back to us and we were able to make an appointment to check it out...pretty pumped for that.

I think we are heading here tomorrow, it's about 15 minutes away. It's a huge event:

Supposed to rain bad all day tomorrow, so we’re going to have to reschedule our Renaissance Faire trip. Sucks because this is the Wizarding Weekend event.

See this is why you dress up. Your family cloaks would have kept you dry.

I just read their exchange policy, and they say no exchanges on weather issues - it's rain or shine. So I may be out $87, because who the **** wants to go to an outdoor faire in torrential downpour? That's insane.

Looking at the forecast now, it might just be light rain, so I'm waiting for my neighbor to get back to me to see if they're still good to go. I just hate driving the turnpike in the rain.

Aaaand none of the kids want to do this in the rain, so I think we may just try and exchange the tickets tomorrow. I would have exchanged them yesterday, but their box office isn't open on the weekend, so maybe I can use that to my advantage.

Might keep the crowds down too which is nice, but then again people really go out for that one, so it's always fun to see people dressed up

You might be ok. Looking at the radar, it looks like there will be a decent break over the next 4 or 5 hours. More stuff could form but this isn't too bad.

I'm good with giving it a go, but if the kids are already pushing back, I'm not sure I want to fight it. I don't think anyone wants to deal with them being miserable. Waiting to hear back from my neighbor on his final decision.

Figures that it has been bone dry for over a month now and the one day we had planned to do this it rains all day.

Apparently the American Road Rally series comes to Potter County once a year, and it's this weekend. Might try and grab a spectator spot with my daughter Friday morning. @dodint, you familiar at all?

Forecast for this trip simply cannot be better. This muggy, unsettled air mass is getting out just in time. Night sky is going to be lit, cannot wait.

The Steel Cities chapter of SCCA does do some road rally stuff but I'm not very familiar with it. Sounds like fun though, especially in that weather.

Just got to our little mountain home outside of Cherry Springs. Great spot, about a mile past the park entrance. Have already seen a bunch of pheasant, a wolf, and a gigantic pile of bear crap along the edge of the woods next to our house.

Can't wait for it to get dark.

They sure do.

Last night was epic. I cannot remember the last time I've seen a sky like that (probably on a cutter). It's funny, you don't realize how many satellites are up there until you can literally see every single one. Amazing that you can put your phone on the ground and take a 15 second exposure of the sky and it actually looks decent.

My daughter and I wandered from our house out to 44...we spent a half hour just out by/on the road looking up. My wife and I are firmly confident that if we can ever swing a second place, it will be in the mountains, not the beach.

Let's see some pictures. Seeing the sky up there is so therapeutic

Will work on it, can't figure out how to upload the long exposure photos (they are raw DNG files).

One of the cooler things last night was walking outside and seeing firefly larvae glowing on the ground as they crawl along. Don't think I've ever seen them in that stage.
