Wahhhh! I know what it means to miss New Orleans. Was looking to go in May but flights and hotels are ridiculous.

People from the east generally have no clue how vast things are out west but it goes both ways sometimes. Told a colleague from Denver I was flying every week to my project in Charlotte and she was like- how long can that take to drive? Uh, 7-1/2 hours from my house to the office plus stopping on the way, make it 8.
Flying I leave my house 2 hrs before departure, 1 hour on the plane, 1 hour to navigate CLT, get car, pick up lunch and drive to the office, 4 hrs total easy and I could probably cut 1/2 hour off how early I leave the house if I had to.
If it wasn’t for having to take 19 thru Summersville could probably drive it in like 3

I have driven Pittsburgh to Charlotte many times. It's an easy ride most of the year, and I kind of like 19 in Summersville. I would assume the lights get annoying, but it's kind of a nice change of pace. Keep in mind we were driving 1.5 hours from where I live now to Charlotte, than 4-5 hours(?) from Pittsburgh to Toronto to see family, but that stretch south of Pittsburgh to north of Charlotte is my favorite part of the 14 hour drive.

We’re seriously considering doing the entire 16 1/2 hour drive to Pittsburgh from Florida in one go tomorrow. It’ll be a long day but at least we won’t risk any tampon-infested hotel rooms.

With two drivers? That's doable.
13 hours is my personal limit when driving alone. I was driving from Boston back to coastal NC when I was younger. Fell asleep and almost rearended a state patrol car. Got a ticket.

I've made the 11-12 hour drive from Philly to Hilton Head a number of times, and if it wasn't for the DC/VA area, that'd probably be fine. I can't make those long drives if I spend hours going under 40, not anymore.

Which part of Florida? If it involves the east coast and driving through SC on I-95, I'd avoid doing it in one shot unless you are driving overnight. With Spring Break, the usual awfulness of that road at the best of times during non-peak traffic, it's going to be a mess. If you are going to the gulf side of Florida, you should be fine.
Not sure if it's as bad as a tampon-infested hotel room tho

I've only done the Philly to Hilton Head drive one time...left at 2 PM on a Friday and there was a crash and two hour backup going through the toll plaza in Delaware. That is one shtty way to start a 12 hour driveI've made the 11-12 hour drive from Philly to Hilton Head a number of times, and if it wasn't for the DC/VA area, that'd probably be fine. I mean, we're driving to coastal SC from the god damn Philadelphia area. Worth it.

Venice so golf side. We’ll join up on 95 somewhere near the boarder so we’ll still have to go through SC.Which part of Florida? 24 hours of my life is worth more than that payoff. That much travel time gets me to the other side of the planet, or I'm watching the Aerial America episode.

We drove because flights were insane. For reference, our flights to London were only $200 more than the flights to Florida would’ve been. Even with gas, lodging on the way down, and food we’re going to save around $1800.

I am also generally not in a hurry if I choose to drive. I want to see stuff.

EVs are perfect for that appliance mindset.

You aren't seeing much on I95, though.

I don't even know why I drove to HHI the last time. I assume it was to just have my own car with me, but I ultimately decided that was stupid and started flying down and renting a car. I think the longest I will tolerate driving now is 5 hours, so a trip across the state. Any further and I'm flying.

My parents told me to fly to Hilton Head last year. I prefer to save the money and not have to deal with airports.

Fly into SAV instead of HHI. You'll save money, and the drive to HHI is an hour at most.

There's a reason the destination is at the end and not along the way.

The great thing about Hilton Head is that if you do it right, you don't need to drive. Rent a bike, and you're good to go.
