Leave it to shmengy to have a bad meal at one of the most famous Chinese restaurants in the US.

I'm guessing you'll be staying in the FiDi area again? Yank Sing, Mister Jiu's, Lai Hong, Harborview (this is actually in Embarcadero Center, which I seem recall is where your company's office is located), China Live (which is a collection of several restaurants/stalls).

Some of those places can be a bit pricey (Jiu's has a Michelin star), but they are great.
-Harborview was dandy
-No syringes anywhere in the city
-Didn’t get yelled at by homeless
-Saw one turd. Could have been dog. 50/50 chance.

Nice little trip to the bay, all in all.

Took our daughter to Dutch Wonderland today. Two thumbs up from me. We got there at park open, the first couple hours were awesome and even after that it wasn't insanely crowded. There is plenty of shade and it is actually a really pretty park. Highly recommend especially for that 5-8 range.

It being 15 minutes from my home is an added bonus.

We went to Crystal Cave today. It was very underwhelming.

I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t terribly interesting. Half of the time we spent in the cave was just waiting for the entire group to gather around the guide.

Having just driven across a bulk of the country I renew my assertion that Ohio is the least remarkable of states. There is not even any novelty in its dullness, it's just...there.

There’s Cuyahoga Falls NP (there right now)

But your statement still holds Dodint. As far as NP’s go, this one is pretty bland.

Scrapped vacation in Myrtle for obvious reasons. Spending the week at Pensacola Beach instead. Never been there. An expensive as all hell adjustment, but I want my friggen vacation this year.

Also, when I moved to CA I drove. PA, OH, IN, IL, MO, OK, TX, NM, AZ, (unnecessary detour to NV), CA. The bit between OKC and ABQ was more or less rod straight, flat and featureless for 500+ miles. 500+ completely dull and sleep-inducing miles.

Kansas is remarkable for being socially backwards in ways Ohio can only dream of.

Ohio is the Minnesota Wild of states.

shmenguin gets it. Not my fault the rest of you didn't comorehend my full opinion.

Ohio rest stops are nice but they're only on the Turnpike. I-70 has nothing except a road surface roughly equivilant to that of the surface of the moon.

There is more to see in the WV panhandle than all of the rest of Ohio and you're in jt for like 15-20 minutes.

I really can’t think of a better candidate for the official “Median” champion. North Carolina has a claim, socially, but it’s coastal and has the mountains. So it’s above average, terrain-wise.

I don’t particularly feel one way or the other about Ohio but I will throw the natural features of Hocking Hills up against most state parks in the country. Pretty stunning, especially when the streams are high and/or the foliage is turning.

Hocking Hills is on our to-go list - maybe next year. I'm surprised Cuyahoga Valley is a National Park. I've been to better state parks. It's like they felt bad for Ohio being such a meh state and gave them a NP as a consolation gift.

@count2infinity

got back from my weekend trip to Columbus. went to the eagle beer hall in short north.

1. I didn't count, but don't put "beer hall" in your name if you only have 8 to 10 (I didn't count) beers on tap

2. The fried chicken was good but not as good as they bill it to be

3. at some point soon, there is going to be a comeuppance for dining and beer establishments that charge high prices for food that is perceived to be good but not actually particularly good.

the term Gastropub comes to mind. I've never had a solid meal and good beer experience in a restaurant billed as one.

Hocking Hills and The Wilds are the only good things about Ohio.
