That was my thought too. I was picturing NTP66 standing there, family in tow, waiting angrily for four hours with the Disney park in the background.

3.5 weeks until vacation and I feel like I've hit the "crawl" earlier than anticipated. Usually, everything feels like it slows down like a week before vacation. This year, it's frustratingly slow.

It's a non-issue. My wife and I took our carry on stuff with us, and when we got to our resort, we went for a swim. By the time we did that and got back, our luggage was in the room.

Easy peasy, Japanesey.

Because you can't carry on certain items. Don't want to take my advice? Okay, no skin off my bones.

What are the items you can't carry on that you would manifestly need in the four hours between arrival and delivery of luggage?

I'm not arguing, just wondering. The only time I've been done for contraband in my carry on was having a wine key with a foil knife. Apparently, those things are srs bsnss and TSA doesn't want you poking other passengers or flight crew with them.

The obvious limitation on liquids. Beside that, those monkeys have no way of accurately tracking exactly where your luggage is, which means it's more likely to get lost. Cry about the airlines, but at least most of them have good tracking capabilities.

Monkeys? Oh boy...

If you each take 3 ounces of sunscreen, you should be fine.

Peeps who know DC:

I'm staying near Dupont Circle for one night at the end of July. Two questions... 1. Parking? It's just the one overnight, is there a decent option somewhere or just bite the bullet and pay the hotel parking? 2. Food. What's the best non $40 a plate food in the area?

Also, since it'll be a night away from the kid and the old lady, I have no problems with okay food but awesome beverages.

Still there, it seems... menu seems pretty run of the mill. Not that there's anything wrong with that for a go to place. Their brunch seems to be better than their standard stuff.

Re: parking, unless it is on the company's tab, never, ever pay for the hotel parking. Recommend using a site like Spothero, there are a ton of garages near there. I actually parked in the garage adjacent to the Washington Hilton (yes, *that* one) when I was at my friend's near there.

Estadio is a great tapas place a couple blocks from Dupont.

It would be on the company's tab, but still, if there's a cheaper and convenient option, I'll still go with that. I'll check out the parking websites/apps to see if I can find something.

Might go check out Espita Mezcaleria... I love mezcal, and I love Oaxacan style food. Seems like a cool place.

What hotel? Asking to know what adjacent neighborhoods might be viable.

Dupont is more known for hipster bars and fast-casual now. The two places I've never been to that I would be most interested in checking out the next time I go back would be Unconventional Diner (modern America) and Rasika (Indian). There is also a Momofuku nearish to there, but I'm a little wary of Chang's 'outpost' restaurants.

I like hipster bars and fast-casual. As to the other two... when I google them the first thing that pops up are tables with linen napkins and water and wine glasses set on tables already. I'm not that kinda guy. NEXT!

Drove up to Niagra falls Wednesday. Staying at the Hilton that has a view of the falls from our room. Soent the last two days doing Niagra falls stuff.

Did an all day that covered all the big stuff on both sides of the falls(maid of the mist, cave of the winds, skylon tower etc). Totally worth it to have someone take us around skip lines be able to take pictures and get cool background on everything. No way we could have hit all of those places ourselves in a day.

Tomorrow going to drive to Toronto to hit the HHOF, CN tower, ripleys aquarium and other things.

Saturday we hit up Clifton hills area before we drive back after we check out.

That drive from Niagra to Toronto is misery. You can see Toronto nearly the entire time but spend eternity driving around the **** lake. Build a damn bridge already.
