Depends on the specific CRJ. Around 2016, Bombardier started making the larger -700 and -900 versions with a new interior with bigger seats, bigger luggage bins, and larger windows. Those are supposedly much more comfortable, but I believe most of the CRJs out there (and all of the smaller -200 models) are the old interior.

I'm taking my last flight for the foreseeable future this weekend and this is wild. I travel so often that not being in an airport for 6 months is going to be strange. For reference, I only went 4 months in COVID without being on a plane.

Nah, all planes are the same, and there is no noticeable difference in any aspect of the flight.

I'm curious as to what differences between aircraft would produce a "significant downgrade in the air travel experience or amenities." For example, would a swap from a mainline aircraft like an Airbus A320 to a regional like an Embraer 175 qualify? What about a swap from a Boeing 777 down to a smaller Airbus A330?
I'm curious, as well, and your examples are precisely what I would consider significant downgrades. As much as I'd love to say that going from an A321 to a 738 is a downgrade, it's not significant enough to meet that qualification. I've had flights in the past where I booked on a 772, and they were later changed to an A321.

That's a beautiful thing!

I think it would also depend on the specific aircraft. An regional E-175 flying for American airlines has seats that are the same pitch as a either a mainline A320 or 737-800 and are actually ever-so-slightly wider. The bigger aircraft isn't necessarily going to always be a better seat or better experience, such as the 10-abreast "cram 'em in" seats in economy on many 777s.

I do think there are some very obvious examples, If you buy a premium economy seat and get downgraded to an aircraft that doesn't have that class, that's should obviously trigger a mandatory partial refund. If you bought a seat with in-seat entertainment and end up with a replacement aircraft that doesn't have that on a long flight, that should also trigger compensation for an "experience downgrade." But I think the government is going to have to carefully define what else might qualify on the margins.

The 175 has wider seats, but my knees make sweet love to the seat in front of me on them. That’s not the case on an A3xx.

Interesting. Maybe seat shape? Because SeatGuru says they have the same pitch.

One of the few times where my relatively short legs (I wear a 29" inseam) come in handy is when flying. I basically don't give a crap about legroom.

Yeah, long legs make for an issue on planes. It’s one big reason why I will always pay for MCE/E+ when flying more than 3 hours.

Long legs are the worse, my knees often come very close to the backseat and if someone reclines I'm screwed.

Returned from Alaska on the redeye Friday morning without much sleep on either flight. Slept 12 hours Friday nite into Saturday. The last 2 nights - 8 total. And I’m back on the road this morning for another week’s run. The body and brain are not too pleased with me.

Hell yeah, I’d go on that.
Come to think of it, I have to go. Airlift + bridge + whatever oddity this is:

...all for about $110 for a family of four with a discount....
Worth every single penny. 8-)

(the second pic of Sky Bridge 721 taken from the top of the Sky Walk (the odd structure in the center of the first picture))

Not that many tourists on the bridge the day we went there...

Incidentally, I have also spent about a week in Prague. I am not going to be posting about it - but I acquired some knowledge of where to stay, what to use for transportation, where to eat - so if anybody plans to go there (or to Eastern Bohemia/NW Moravia border where Sky Bridge 721 is) - just drop a line here...

I never would have guessed a flight from Pittsburgh to Norfolk would only be $140. And they're not horrible layovers either.

Anybody with vacation ideas for Costa Rica? About 10 years ago, we did Arenal Volcano (4 days) + Manuel Antonio National Park (4 days) out of San Jose. Since we have kids now (6,8), I am thinking about doing something that requires less travel. I am looking at:
Monteverde + X
possibly utilizing Liberia airport.

My questions:
1. How many days should I devote to Monteverde? What did you see/do there? (+ where to stay?)
2. What should be my "X"? My wife gave me OK to look for non-beachy destinations (hooray!), and so I am thinking about Santa Rosa National Park (dry rainforest, very close to Liberia). Anybody has any experience with that one?

Thanks!!

Headed to Banff/Vancouver next week. Anyone been to either spot? I've gotten a couple of ideas and booked a couple of things but I'm always on the lookout for other stuff.

Enjoy OP. Bucket list trip for me.

OBX has been just awesome this week. Water has been 80 every day, with sunshine most days. Little windy yesterday.

It's honestly depressing how quickly these one week trips go by. We will be packing the car tomorrow to come home.

If you wake up early enough, johnston Canyon up to the ink pots. The ink pots themselves weren't all that interesting, but the valley that the ink pots are in might be my favorite place ive ever been.

You're the second digital acquaintance I know that's going to Banff next week, OP. Like shaf, that's a bucket list destination for me. I've heard the trip to Jasper is worth it, as Banff can be a bit "touristy".

so Vancouver, go to Richmond for dim sum. other than that, eat anywhere and everywhere especially if you like Asian food and seafood. the last time I was there, 2014? I was able to get otoro for $8 CANADIAN.
specific recommendations:
Vij's (Indian food). all the cooks, who happen to be women are vegetarians yet somehow they make some of the best Indian non-veg dishes I've ever had despite the fact that they don't taste them.

Japanese Omakase at Tojo's:
https://tojos.com/

Kintaro Ramen near Stanley Park

Kingyo Izakaya, also near Stanley Park
https://www.order.store/store/kingyo-va ... HJICIsiFpw

non-eating activities:
find somewhere to zipline. our first trip in 2010 we ziplined at Whistler. it's all so beautiful up there that you just can't go wrong.
