Can't be as bad as the lockers at Universal near Wizarding World. It was like a free for all to find 1-2 big enough for our stuff, people fighting over them, etc. Then you have to pay for them, on top of the entry fees and we got some upgraded fast pass thing. Ugh.

But the butter beer was good.

I do wish I had thought to bring water shoes or something along with me. Walking around in bare feet felt a little gross looking at how dirty things appeared to be.

A couple of photos from my Alaska excursion. Those of you who have spent time here are likely familiar with some of it:

The Aialik Glacier at Kenai Fjords National Park:

When we were there in 2009 or 2010, it calved what looked like the equivalent of maybe three 7/11 stores. I didn't get a good photo cos I went full slack-jaw-mode, but the whole face with that darker gray ledge just right of center where it's starting to slide in the photo is what came down, pretty much in one go.

We had to actually quickly pull the boat back to avoid field ice getting donked into our hull from the swell.

You observed something with your eyes, instead of through a cell phone screen? How dare you.

Yeah, we got some little calves with the glacier but right before we pulled away, there was a smart car sized chunk that plunged about 50-60 feet with a big splash. That drew some applause from the crowd. This place is sensory overload with nature's beauty. You really get reminded of your insignificance when you're face to face with all of this.

@dodint @tifosi77's twin was in Morehead City. Sanitary Fish Market is good FWIW.

If he didn't look like a poor man's Violent J from Insane Clown Posse, it'd be easier to like him.

I just ate there last month. Great she-crab soup, and hush puppies.

That's kind of the right place for him. It's one of the 'safe' restaurants for tourists to go to, with good food but not adventurous at all. There is a reason this was shared from Facebook. ;)
The locals treat it as a little bit of a joke given the awkward name.

The more I learn about Guy Fieri the more I like him. He seems like a good dude who actually cares about helping people.

He does seem like a good dude.

But the restaurants that serve food under his name are bad. I've eaten at his restaurant in Louisville and also the one here at the casino at Westmoreland Mall. Both had a warmed-over Applebees feel to them. Which is fine or whatever but if it's being billed as created by a chef you expect it to at least be a little creative. Chef Boyardee puts more effort into their dishes.

I distinctly remember my brother and I making jokes about getting napkins from the Sanitary Fish Market when we teenagers. My mother was not amused. :lol: Menstruation jokes don't always land well.

Agreed. I always wondered what kind of restaurants were featured on his show, like were they all tourist traps, etc? Then I saw where he went to in Maui and got my answer. All places I **** loved, that definitely weren't tourist traps. Had to respect him for that.

The department announced Wednesday proposed changes to federal agency rules that would allow passengers to seek a refund if an airline changes departure or arrival times for a domestic flight by three hours or more, changes the arrival or departure airport, changes or adds connections in a flight itinerary, or changes the type of plane being flown by the airline "if it causes a significant downgrade in the air travel experience or amenities available onboard the flight."
The proposed rules also would expand protections for consumers who are unable to fly for pandemic-related reasons and have nonrefundable tickets, allowing them to receive travel credits or vouchers that do not expire. These consumers could also be eligible for refunds from airlines that received significant government financial assistance.

The Department proposes that significant changes to a flight would include:

Changes that affect the departure and/or arrival times by three hours or more for a domestic flight or six hours or more for an international flight;
Changes to the departure or arrival airport;
Changes that increase the number of connections in the itinerary; and
Changes to the type of aircraft flown if it causes a significant downgrade in the air travel experience or amenities available onboard the flight.
Under the proposal, a canceled flight would mean a flight that was published in a carrier’s Computer Reservation System at the time of the ticket sale but was not operated by the carrier.

The proposal would also require that airlines and ticket agents provide passengers flight credits or vouchers that are valid indefinitely when passengers are unable to fly for certain pandemic related reasons, such as government-mandated bans on travel, closed borders, or passengers advised not to travel to protect their health or the health of other passengers. Further, under the proposal, airlines and ticket agents that receive significant government assistance related to a pandemic would be required to issue refunds, in lieu of non-expiring travel credits or vouchers.
Good, now make it so.

I'm curious as to what differences between aircraft would produce a "significant downgrade in the air travel experience or amenities." For example, would a swap from a mainline aircraft like an Airbus A320 to a regional like an Embraer 175 qualify? What about a swap from a Boeing 777 down to a smaller Airbus A330?

All the airlines went bankrupt 37 minutes after the covid shutdown. Do we really want the government to force them to eventually beg for a bail out yet again?

I thought of NTP66 when I read that the first time because he's so very sensitive to which skytube he's sitting in.

Princess and the Pea syndrome, IMO.

I don’t think I’ve ever cared about what kind of plane I’m on. Hell, even airlines for the most part are interchangeable

what’s the cheapest flight that works with my schedule? that’s all I care about

Bombardier planes, specifically the CRJ series, are extremely uncomfortable. I would definitely pay extra to avoid it.

CRJs are brutal. I don’t find the Embraers nearly as bad. I’ll take the one seat row on the 145 any day.
