For those of you familiar with Washington state (@kaizer)

At what point does the snow start to melt in the cascades? I'll be out there in the third weekend of april and want to get some good hikes in, but I'm worried about the snow

I was going to say that there is a slight lessening of the rules in that one may enter Canada using the passport card rather than a full passport, but I just looked it up and TIL the passport card doesn't work for air travel. The card only works for land or sea entry.

I think TO is one of the Canadian airports that has a US Customs facility, so can 'pre-clear' before boarding your return flight and skip the check domestically.

I flew through Toronto a few years ago and that is exactly how they did it. I flew into YYZ from Moncton and they had me go through customs before getting on my flight to Pittsburgh.

Last year at the airport I witnessed an international student from one of the local colleges (believe he was from South Korea) be informed that they could not give him boarding passes for his flight home because he booked it with a layover in Toronto but did not have a Canadian tourist visa. Felt completely awful for him. Airline couldn't figure out how he managed to book the flight without inputting visa information.

Nice interactive website here where you can see what counties require visa from what other countries:

https://www.henleypassportindex.com//passport

I don't think it was a travel visa barring that South Korean student from getting on the plane. I just learned that even for countries where Canada doesn't require visas (a list that includes South Korea), Canada in November 2016 implemented a system called the "Electronic Travel Authorization" where a traveler has to go online, pay $7 CAD, and fill out some electronic forms in advance of flying. Interestingly, it doesn't apply to U.S. Citizens, but does apply to pretty much everyone else. I could see the confusion for booking that flight because whatever booking system he was using might have been assuming that because he was booking a flight from the U.S. he was a U.S. citizen and didn't need the ETA.

Making yearly trek to Atlanta for volleyball. Have done the aquarium (pretty good), World of Coke (bad), CNN Center (#fakenews), and walked around Olympic Park in past years. Any rec's for things to do or restaurants to go to in downtown area?

Did you check out the Underground yet? Last time I was there I got to meet a couple of Negro League players, one of whom was James "Red" Moore (who passed away at the age of 99 in 2016...I met him in 2005). They were selling signed cards for 10 or 15 bucks, figured it was the least I could do to buy one. Anyway, it's kinda cool down there.

Stone Mountain is fun too, if you can appreciate it for what it was and not get triggered ;)

How long ago were you at the Underground?

I was there 3-4 years ago and it was very sketchy then.
