Harrah's and Borgata are decent. Harrah's is like a town unto itself with shopping, a controlled environment pool area, entertainment venues. Tropicana also has a a ton of options contained within.
This brand new Hard Rock interests me and it's only a 60 minute train ride from home. I can train in, party and train out using shuttles and Uber at either end.

heading to Ellenton/Bradenton, FL area this weekend for a hockey tourney. anyone have any good restaurant suggestions? Tampa area is fine too as I'm quite sure we'll be spending some time up there. note: we've done Ybor City before.

If you head to the Florida Aquarium in Tampa (which I recommend), give Precinct Pizza a try. It has a chain vibe to it, but it's a standalone location. Very good, kid friendly, and not terribly expensive. Right near Amalie Arena, so you may want to steer clear if the Lightning are playing that night.

Wasn't this discussed in the booze thread not too long ago? I think it depends on the source Province.

Our 1st anniversary was in Niagara on the Lake, and we brought back 13 bottles. Even claimed them at the border with no issue. Can't see why if we were able to do it, Fed Ex or similar can't.I’ve been taking to the google to no avail. Can I ship wine from canadia to Murcia?

I was gonna suggest that you could check out LECOM Park, but the Marauders are in town until the 3rd but don't return until the 10th. http://www.milb.com/schedule/index.jsp?sid=t3390heading to Ellenton/Bradenton, FL area this weekend for a hockey tourney. anyone have any good restaurant suggestions? Their shop has a limited window on non-game days, something like 11-5 or 10-4. Tours? Unfortunately I think that's a no. I asked the kid working the merch shop and kinda got a blank look.
That said, the Motorworks Brewing Company is literally blocks from the field and has a good selection of beer. If I remember correctly, it's about thirty selections of beer on the tap selection and about another 15-20 on limited edition bottles.

A friend of mine was attempting something similar. He was doing about two or three a year and had a tall glass from each place that he visited. I want to say he was up near 25-30 when he stopped. I know he started travelling again a few years ago, but I'm not sure if he's still making the Hard Rock a mandatory stop. I'll shoot him a message and see if he's still collecting. When I was still in the military, I offered to grab a glass from Buenos Aries but he actually declined because it would be cheating. So I grabbed the glass anyways and kept it for myself. When I was in high school, I had a dream of getting a Hard Rock t-shirt from every location. At the time, I thought there were only like nine locations.

Looking at the list of locations, I've been to seven: Toronto (now closed), New York, Honolulu, San Diego, Myrtle Beach, Buenos Aires... oh, and Pittsburgh. Not quite all nine, but close.

I've been to Washington DC, the two Los Angeles-area locations (the one in the Beverly Center is now closed), the Lahaina-Maui location (which I think has also since closed), and London, which was just a couple blocks down the way from my hotel.

It closed a few months ago, and has since been replaced by a mom and pop “bowling” alley. I doubt it’ll last, though.Lahaina-Maui location (which I think has also since closed)
I get why people want to visit every Hard Rock (to say that they did), but I’ll never understand the decision to eat at restaurants that you’ll find in your hometown while on vacation.

the only time I did this was in Italy. we were in Venice and had been in Italy almost 2 weeks. we were kind of burnt out on Italian food so we went to the Hard Rock to get some good ol' American food.

The Myrtle Beach location is closed as well.
The Orlando restaurant - near Universal - has a John Lennon room that you can ask to get a tour of. It's a vip lounge with some pretty cool Beatle and Lennon artifacts.

I've been in a Hard Rock once, namely, the Pittsburgh location for a show. I was surprised that most of the memorabilia didn't seem to have a Pittsburgh connection. I was expecting more stuff along the lines of a pair of Donnie Iris's old eyeglasses or Reb Beach's old mullet.

we ended up with some beach time, a tour of the Yuengling Brewery (free!) and also some parade (De Soto? kind of like Mardi Gras) because it was 2 blocks from our hotel.

one downside to traveling in the area was the amount of times we had to pass Tropicana Field. that is by far, the ugliest stadium in all of MLB.

Headed down to Mobile on Saturday to visit my mom and sister...flying into New Orleans so we are going to spend 5-6 hours there. I appreciate the earlier suggestions...was able to score a valet parking garage right in the French Quarter for $8 #winning. Can't wait to go to Cafe Du Monde.

Don't go to Cafe Du Monde. But if you must..... Jax brewery is just across the park. And there are often buskers there, so that's fun.
