That’s not illegal at casinos? Lol
If you’re doing in it your head, it’s not illegal. You won’t get arrested, but they will ban you.
Yeah, well what do you know about casinos, “blackjack”...

Yeah, so long as you aren't using some sort of external aid, be it human or a device. If you can keep track of a six-deck shoe on your own, you're fine..... just expect they will show you the door once you cycle a shoe and they've sorted out what you're up to, and your photo will be distributed to all their other properties.

Also, my FIL was an investigator with the Nevada Gaming Control Board, so that's neat.

Anyone ever been to Scottsdale AZ? Going for a weekend in April for a bachelor's party and looking for some spots to eat.

Day two of our Kansas trip and we’ve finally hit up Jack Stack’s for burnt ends. I’ve got at least two more BBQ trips before we leave, with Joe’s KC up next. KC BBQ > all others.

@CBear3 and his wife, convinced that my faith in 'thoughts and prayers' would not be sufficiently comforting right now, sent my wife and I a giant box of meat from Jack Stack, including burnt ends.

The guy is a prince, imo.

Glad that you got to experience them. :thumb:

This wasn’t my first time at Jack Stack’s - I love this place. Their beef brisket is also freakin killer.

This JSX thing is a hoot. The passenger 'terminal' is pretty much a hanger with two adjacent snack rooms. Aircraft are like 30 feet from where you stand, and they offer disposable because the doors are hearing protection because the doors are open and it is loud.

There was also someone called Busy Phillips here earlier, but she was going to PHX.

It was a bit dicey for a moment when someone accidentally tossed a cornhole bag into the restricted area, but we made it out in one piece.

My unofficial BBQ rankings from this trip to Kansas/KC:

1. Joe’s Kansas City (formerly Oklahoma Joe’s). Burnt ends smoked to absolute perfection, and one of the best BBQ sauces I’ve ever had. Their chicken was also fantastic. Their beans were the only downside outside of the wait

1.5. Jack Stack BBQ - and this is a very, very close second. Best beans on the planet, their burnt ends are fantastic, as are the brisket and ribs. Almost unfair that I list them below Joe’s

3. Burnt Ends BBQ. For a “fast food” type of place, compared to the others, they make some damn tasty burnt ends and brisket. Didn’t care for the sauce as much as the others, but these guys would easily be the best BBQ in the area if they opened a place near home

So, two new BBQ joints down, and one repeat visit. I’ll try some others the next time my wife forces me to come here. My daughter wanted to know why we were going to another bbq joint, lol. “That’s all we’ve done! BBQ bbq bbq bbq bbq!”

Curious to hear @CBear3’s thoughts on this.

Joe's KC is my favorite out there.

Which location did you go to?

We went to the one in Leawood, KS since it was the closest to where my BIL lives (Overland Park, KS). One of the longest lines I have ever stood in, too, wrapping around 3/4 of the interior walls.

Gotcha. I've only eaten at the Original gas station location.

It's really good. But agreed on the beans.

There’s something about gas stations and BBQ in this area. We went to a different place at an old converted gas station the last time I was here, and it too was terrific. Cheap, too.

Edit: I remember the name now - the Filling Station, in Lee’s Summit, MO. Really good pulled pork.

I had to look up the other place that I thought was great - K&M BBQ in Spring Hill, KS. Great burnt ends and ribs, and - this this not a typo - superb fried okra. Never thought I would ever say that about such a slimy vegetable, but man were these good. Every app we had was great, from the mushrooms to the jalapeño corn nuggets.

My daughter was all BBQ’d out this trip, but writing this makes me want to just hit up one more of these before I leave. It annoys me that not one single bbq place back home does burnt ends.

That’s the thing about KC, Jack Stack and Joe’s are the top of the established BBQ joints, but there’s all sorts of little one of stands that are absolutely amazing.
NTP, I work about two miles from the Filling Station and we lunch there pretty often. There’s also a nice place about a mile from home called Plowboys in Blue Springs.
Apparently you do the Q tour, win some awards and then find an old gas station or burned out fast food joint and go into business.

Nice. The next tine I’m told to visit, I want to come during one of the barbecue competitions or festivals.
