We don't have any plans to travel any time soon, but if we did we'd probably stay masked in the terminal and up through the 10,000' *boing* after takeoff. That's enough time for cabin air to have been filtered and fresh air pumped in.

Honestly, a sealed commercial aircraft is probably one of the safest respiratory environments outside of a hospital ICU you're ever likely to find yourself, direct sneeze attacks notwithstanding. I'd have been fine going masklessin the aircraft last summer when we went to Vegas, and we all know how super serial I've been about masking indoors.

Had no idea the mask mandate had been lifted as we flew home today. Thought it was strange that half the people at AUS weren’t wearing masks, but thought, “Eh, Texas”. Wife googled it and found out the real reason

We removed masks in the terminal but kept them on for the flights. About half the people did the same

Flying AA through Charlotte was really our only option for the Labor Day weekend Punta Cana wedding we made the mistake of saying yes to. I’m sure it’ll be changed a million times before we leave, but just got notice that the flight we selected for PIT-CLT was cancelled and they stuck us on a fight that will give us 40 minutes between flights in Charlotte while dealing with a lap held infant. **** idiots.

That's essentially what happened to me with our flights in June. I was at least able to cancel all flights and reschedule, with the return on United. The poor airlines are hurting, though.

Can’t wait for them to cry about needing more corporate welfare.

I'm in NOLA next week and Cochon Butcher is on the list. Never been but have heard plenty of good things about it.
Cochon Butcher was pretty good. Got the pork porterhouse and was in a meat coma the rest of the night. Overall, the food has been exactly what I expected -- had a po'boy with debris from Mothers, went to two different NOLA seafood places off the beaten path, and the golf tournament has a damn sampler platter for us royalty on pro-am day (sorry, peasants).

But Canal Street might rival the Vegas strip for cesspool of the US. And trying to drive it, especially when it's the weekend of a 'fest'? Forget it. Also doesn't help when the cops block off the streets that lead to your hotel and you're just trying to get the car valeted so you can get away from all of the mess.

I just stumbled upon the pictures of the Isle of Staffa in Scotland. Looks amazing.

Took my MIL to Pittsburgh International early this morning for her flights back to Mexico City. Auxiliary checkpoint was through the tunnel and back out into the landslide terminal. Main security checkpoint was back out into the tunnel in between the parking lots and beyond the closest set of entrances. Check-in lines for the airlines were insane and running into each other all across the terminal. All for travel on a meaningless Sunday morning in late April.

Travel is going to be an extra level of hell for the foreseeable future.

Due to an oversight on somebody's part, probably mine, I scheduled a business trip the day Middle Franchise needs to be picked up from Penn State after his finals. It's a Thursday and was supposed to be the last day of my trip, so my theory was since I've been spending a lot of time away to ask my boss if I can leave early and change my return to State College. Then rent a big ass SUV and just drive it home with all his stuff.

I don't know if a lot of students wrap up that day or what but it's almost $700 one way CLT-SCE. All other days around it are half that. I doubt they'll go for that.

Meh, there are no big ass SUVs available anyway.

Flew end of February and two weeks ago. No issues at all. But DD just posted something about terrible lines

The TSA App will show you wait times, as well: https://www.dhs.gov/check-wait-times

I have flown 4 out of the past 5 weeks and 5 minutes wait for TSA Pre, 20 for regular was the highest I have seen.

How far up are you going? I'd love to go to CIA (Culinary Institute of America) for an afternoon.

One thing to note: there are a surprisingly few bridge crossings over the Hudson between NYC and Albany. Not sure about ferries, but you might want to keep that in mind.

Going up to Hudson for Suarez Family Brewery, staying in Fishkill. Will head South to bear mountain state park. That's the range After a weekend there, heading to Legoland in Goshen.
