Puppies and island paradise: A winning vacation combo

I visited the Lana'i Cat Sanctuary when I was in Hawaii. it was pretty incredible and much to my surprise, unbelievably clean.

My wife is forcing me to do this next year. Glad you enjoyed it; makes me a little more hopeful.

If I never have to fly in an E175 ever again, that’ll be too soon. Those planes are not meant for people over 5’5” tall.

I recommend using Lost on Lana'i to handle your ferry and ground transportation on Lana'i. for a couple of extra bucks they made getting around the island so much easier:https://lostonlanai.com/product-categor ... sanctuary/

I love cats (dogs too but cats are easier living in a townhouse) so I knew that I'd love it. the cats are all friendly because they know that the visitors are bringing them treats. I was truly blown away at how well they keep the area clean.

Yeah, I saw that link on their website. We'll probably do the half day tour.

The Budget car rental at MCI has been trash for as long as we've been going there, and we generally expect to wait an hour for our car. Their rates are so cheap compared to the others that I was willing to deal with it. This year, they added FastBreak - which operates differently than any other FastBreak counter I've ever seen. I walk up to the counter and see my name on a TV screen informing me to pick any car from the zone I'm listed in. So I go outside and get in the Fusion Hybrid (shitbox, BTW) and off we go. There were two Camaros, the Fusion, and a few small hatchbacks available at the time. I wonder if that could backfire if the car I truly wanted was already gone.

You have one night in downtown Chicago to eat for under $25 an entree. Where do you go?

Of course, you could just wander the city and get a Chicago Dog, Italian Beef sammich and some deep dish "pizza."

Looks yummy. Also looks expensive. Also only a few blocks from my hotel which is a big plus.

I had a coworker telling me about this secret spot in Chicago that does deep dish way different and better than anyone else and it's blah blah blah blah... it's still deep dish pizza. No thanks.

If you are on the Mag Mile, hit up Pippin’s Tavern on Rush and Chicago. You can order from Downtown Dogs next door and they bring the dogs or Italian Beef right into the bar. Good selection of craft beer. Mainly a locals place.

And just for fun, go around the corner to Streeters Pub and hit the men’s room (no, not that). Decent beer selection but more college age crowd.

There’s some place with a G that puts a layer of dough on top of their deep dish, covers it with sauce, bakes it, the top layer of dough never cooks, and then the animals that like the place pretend it’s good.

If given a choice, I'm going for a real Chicago style dog. Leaves you extra cash for beer, in your case.
