I95 for the last hour or so in SC has been awful on Saturdays all summer. Try coming in earlier than check-in times, or even the night before.I get to make the drove to Hilton Head Saturday. At least I won't have to go through DC to get there.

I think I end up taking the Coosawhatchie exit, and haven't run into issues using that so far.

Yeah, but from I26 to I95/Coosawhatchie is awful. It's not bad once you get off the interstate though.I think I end up taking the Coosawhatchie exit, and haven't run into issues using that so far.

I dont recall any issues last year, but we did get in around 4 pm

Odd there was no traffic last year. Something must have been going on.

The island was sufficiently crowded, even with the pandemic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Very cool. My brother was down in Ocracoke a couple of weeks ago. I need to get up there again soon, just can't get past the eight hours of travel time from my house to that island. Probably go to Hatteras via Manteo, then to Ocracoke for a day or two.@dodint and @DigitalGypsy66
This is a fun watch

See what you don't experience when you fly into Savannah? Now you’re just making up words.Coosawhatchie
Although there were a ton of jets coming into HHI's airport when we were there in July. I don't remember seeing that much, pre-pandemic.

That's because AA is flying larger jets into HHI now, expanding their routes. I can now fly directly into HHI from PHL, which was never possible in the past. I always flew through CLT.See what you don't experience when you fly into Savannah? Now you’re just making up words.Coosawhatchie

That said, I think I still prefer flying through SAV.

Spending a week in Ireland next May with my mom and sister. Flying into Dublin but will spend most of our time in Galway and Cork countryside. Cannot wait.

Thanks. Spent a few days in and around Dublin a decade ago, but that was a deliberately short trip since we were headed elsewhere after that. Great people.Ireland is awesome. Enjoy

Just came home today from 2 weeks in Hilton Head. 10 hours to/from DC (should be 9). Have driven down south and back a dozen times during the pandemic. Fredericksburg/Quantico area never fails to suck, the rest of the drive is always fine.I get to make the drove to Hilton Head Saturday. At least I won't have to go through DC to get there.
Edit: arriving on island at the “wrong time” on a Saturday can be a problem; of course. Coming home, we always leave the island at 6am to avoid traffic.

For the first time ever, my parents said they had a bunch of bad dining experiences in Hilton Head - including Frankie Bones and Skull Creek Boathouse. That's surprising, given how outstanding both of those restaurants have been over time. I have yet to have a bad meal at either of them.

The labor shortage down there, which has been a problem for years, was especially tough this season.

Their biggest complaint was actually the food, though they did have an issue with one of the Italian restaurants down there. My mom hates shrimp - just refuses to eat it. The waiter forgot to tell her that the special she ordered had shrimp in it, and when they brought it out, his response was "I forgot, oh well".The labor shortage down there, which has been a problem for years, was especially tough this season.

Yep, it may be my favorite restaurant on the island. That said, Pazzo was the best Italian restaurant on the island - hell, it was one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to - and I'm still furious over that hurricane that wiped out the building. The chef moved to another state, so it never reopened.

Frankie Bones was solid. Really liked Nunzio’s. Went twice actually.
Talked to a few of the waiters at various restaurants and they all seem to be working with 30% of their optimal staff numbers.
