My wife loves Zoo's and aquariums... which is why i think she got some bundle deal for tickets already so we are gonna go no matter what haha. Snorkling sounds like fun, but not sure if she will be up for it or not. She has actually been to Hawaii herself before, but it was for work so this is her first time going on an actual vacation.

We aren't the type of people who will spend all day or several days just laying on the beach which is why I was trying to find some other things to do outside of the obvious stuff.

Thank you. I will never understand why people fly to Hawai'i to sunbathe. Such a waste, IMO.

Don't forget to take your picture next to the statue of Duke Kahanamoku.

I’m very much a person who likes (and needs) to do things on vacation. Last year after my wife graduated we decided to take an impromptu relaxing vacation to a resort in Playa Del Carmen. Plan was to spend the week chilling and drinking. Made it two days before we started scheduling tours and day trips and jungle zip lining etc. I don’t know how people can handle doing absolutely nothing.

Same here. My wife makes fun of me because I create a spreadsheet planning out the vacation, but we always have a hell of a time.

Looking to find some other hikes to do besides DiamondHead(which we will do). We are doing pearl harbor for sure, and we have passes to the Zoo and Aquarium so I know we will do that. Other than that... just gonna kinda see where things go.
Diamondhead, definitely do. I have a friend who lives in Honolulu and he hikes Koko Crater often. Take a look at the hiking guide to find out how to go about that.

Just go to the North Shore, hit up a shrimp truck, crash the pool at Turtle Bay, drink from a fresh-cracked coconut, and revel in how wonderful the world is.
but don't hit just any shrimp truck. Giovanni's is the best. be sure to write on it before leaving....

Landed in Honolulu about 45 minutes ago. The time difference is gonna hit me later. Been up since 3am Pittsburgh time and it's only 1:50 here right now.

It's now 6:23 here and my body thinks it's after midnight. We did some sightseeing and there is a festival going on outside our hotel that we will check out later. Other than that early night as we are exhausted. Up early tomorrow though to get things started.

Good on ya. Just try to immediately get into the groove of local time.

Edit: And remember, jet lag is worse going east. ;)

I'll write up a long post here soon but it was awesome.... crying babies aside on the plane ride back.

Still kind of jet lagged trying to readjust to Pittsburgh time.

The first whale of the season was spotted off the coast of Kaua'i, so you've got a very, very remote shot at possibly seeing one on your trip if you spend a good amount of time in the water.

the last several week whales have been beaching themselves right outside the resort we're going to be staying at. not how I want to see a whale but.....

Yeah, I've been following that. Different species of whales, though. I'm referring to the humpbacks.

For those of you who have visited Europe with children, how old were they? I'm thinking about taking the family to Italy in 2021, and the only thing holding me back is the fact that my daughter will only be going on 9, and I'm not sure that she would enjoy Europe at that age.
