Hocking Hills is on our to-go list - maybe next year. I'm surprised Cuyahoga Valley is a National Park. I've been to better state parks. It's like they felt bad for Ohio being such a meh state and gave them a NP as a consolation gift.
Yeah I would have never guessed that was a national park.

Ohio could double its cool factor if they let you tour the blimp hangar.

Almost forgot - I finally bought a pair of active noise cancelling headphones for my flights, and holy **** have I been missing out.
Which ones? Need a rec for the wife so she'll leave me alone.

I bought these ones (15% off coupon attached to it right now, actually):

I didn't want to spend a crazy amount of money on something I'd use a handful of times per year, and so far I'm very happy with the decision. You can use them both wired and wireless (BT).

Awesome, thanks. Was hoping they wouldn't be $200+.

I'm getting more anxious about the long plane flight the closer it gets to leaving for Hawaii. My wife says she is just going to knock me out with some benadryl haha.

You ought to join a therapy group with tif, who is also know to be less than enthusiastic about long flights to beautiful, exotic paradises.

I wouldn't go that route, personally. Get a good sleep the night before, and stay up as late as you can when you land in Hawai'i to take the edge off the next day's lethargy.

Our flight leaves at like 6am Saturday morning from Pittsburgh, so I am assuming my wife will want to be the airport a few hours earlier than that.. so getting a good nights sleep friday is unlikely. We have a 3 and a half hour flight from Pittsburgh to Dallas, then 8+ hours from Dallas to Hawaii. We were originally supposed to go from Pittsburgh to LA then LA to Hawaii but the flight got changed.

Are you on a 777 from DFW then? I prefer the LAX-OGG route myself because of how well it breaks up the trip.

Our flight leaves at like 6am Friday morning from Pittsburgh, so I am assuming my wife will want to be the airport a few hours earlier than that.. so getting a good nights sleep friday is unlikely. We did Pittsburgh > LA > Hawaii on the way out and Hawaii > Dallas > Pittsburgh for the return. I also hate flying. I'm flying to LA next summer and I'm already anxious about it. But I can tell you that all of the flights were fantastic, especially Hawaii > Dallas. It'll likely be a big plane since it's a longer flight so it should be smooth sailing. Much more enjoyable flight than the 2 hour flight to Orlando last year.

Of course, I also took a valium and a shot of rum before I boarded... That might have helped.

That depends on your definition of comfort. You're still likely to have 1" wider seats on an A321, though the cabin in the 777 should be quieter. These assumptions are for coach. F on the 777 will be superior, as they're lie-flats.

Yeah we do Pittsburgh> Dallas > Hawaii way out and Hawaii > Dallas > Pittsburgh on the way back. I looked up the flights and the ones to Hawaii and back from Hawaii which are the longer flights are the bigger planes (777 like @NTP66 had mentioned above) so that is reassuring. It looks like only the initial flight from Pit to DFW is on a smaller plane an Airbus319. I'm sure I'll be fine. I just don't fly often and the longest flight I've ever done is Pit to Vegas which was like 4 and a half hours I think.

The A319 is still comfortable for that short a flight, IMO.

We are flying coach. I don't expect luxury, and I'm sure it will be a bit cramped, but it is what it is. Thankfully I'm a much smaller person than I used to be, so my fat ass won't be as crammed as I would have been say 3 or 4 years ago.

You'll have 9" touch-screens at each seat, too, with plenty of movies, tv shows, and games to play. I usually watch one on their own, but always bring a Kindle Fire loaded for myself. I switch to the flight map for the last hour or so just for the hell of it.

For sure. That's likely to be a 3 & 3 seat layout. We flew on a CRJ900 to Orlando which was a 2 & 1 layout. It was pretty awful.

Yeah I figure watching movies will help pass the time. Going to load up some podcasts too to listen to. I'm sure it will be fine. My wife loves flying so hopefully we will cancel each other out since I'm so anxious. She is real mad we aren't going to LAX. She's been to the DFW airport before, and she wanted to go to one she hasn't been to haha. At least we aren't flying through Atlanta, I remember going through there on the way back from Vegas and it was a disaster.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of any of the regional jets (all CRJs and ERJs). They're okay for ~2 hour flights, but nothing more.

We were also dumb and forgot until the other day that we had to re-pick our seats since they switched flights on us. Thankfully we still got seats together.

I know DFW has a monorail and everything, but I've still found LAX quicker to navigate for connections. That all depends on your gates, though. The only times I have ever flown through DFW, I swear I spent forever on the damn monorail.
