Thought about taking in a Caps game but the only game is Thursday and I'll likely be getting out of dodge around 6 pm or so.

I believe the convention center is super close to Chinatown so I'm definitely going to check that out. Unfortunately I likely won't have much time to sightsee (unless the convention is a bust and I sneak away for a bit) but I appreciate the suggestions.

One of my favorite memories attending a National Hockey League regular season match was going to a Caps game in DC when they were playing the Flyers. I was pretty well lubricated, wore my Pens jersey and booed both teams equally. Surprised I didn't end up with a black eye or worse.

First NHL game I ever went to was at the old Cap Centre. Ended up on TV, was fun.

I'm going to be in DC all next week for a conference. I'll be staying by the convention center. Any food recommendations or other general tips would be appreciated.
It's been mentioned in this thread before, but the Old Ebbitt Grill is always a good choice.
Had this today. Thanks for the recommend. I was definitely underdressed but I sat at the bar so I’m just going to pretend like it’s okay. I dug it.

I've been to three or four conventions at the WEW Center...yes, the Old Ebbitt Grill is where it's at.

TIL Vietnam does not have a national uniform power grid. They have like three or four different voltages, and seven different types of outlets.

American Airlines
thanks to a computer glitch that allowed the airline’s pilots to all take time off en masse between December 17 and December 31, leaving thousands of Christmas-season flights without anyone to pilot them.
American is now offering pilots 150 percent of their usual hourly rate to pick up open trips, and a spokesman promises that all the flights will be covered and the company will “get our customers to where they need to go over the holidays.”

It was very good but honestly my favorite meal has been a sandwich at Smoked & Stacked.

possible trip to Vancouver in March so I'm looking for airfare deals. some of the cheapest so far involve connecting in YYZ and switching to WestJet. anyone here have experience with that airline?

nope, I'm in ATL. Alaskan flies out of here and prices are decent right now but I just want to weigh all of my options.

Greetings from flight level 340 and 568 knots.

So far Singapore Airlines wins my Best Flying Experience award. Awesome check-in assistance and speedy boarding, and I don't even mind that TSA confiscated my wine key that I forgot was in my toiletries bag.

We're in the first row of Premium Economy, and I have enough room as a 6-footer to stretch my legs out completey straight and have my feet flat against the bulkhead.

I think for lunch I'll have either the seafood tagine with shellfish sauce, or the pan grilled chicken, or maybe the deep fried 5 spice pork.

It's all a blur at this point but I don't think my options were that good on my Qantas flight to Brisbane

What the options?

Fish or steak.

Ah yes, I had the lasagna.
