Yeah, I’ve never been to Publix, so I think I’m going to give it a shot and see what it’s like. Drive to Pittsburgh today was pretty good, but I’m not expecting the same tomorrow given how much my kid whined towards the end. Watch a **** movie or something.

 My kids were asleep for most of our time in the car this week. Teenagers lol

Publix is great. Upscale grocery with a great bakery and deli. Chicken tendies sub sandwich is pretty good (for your daughter).

We are staying in a really nice spot right on Spruce Creek in Huntington County this weekend. Love this area. Took the kids to Delgrosso's yesterday.

Freaking Boston

Traveling on points to we were scheduled to fly AA through DCA yesterday.

First, Sumner Tunnel is closed so the advice from Massport was to allow “1 to 3 additional HOURS to get to the airport.” We got there 3 hours before our flight.

Flight was coming in from DCA and going back. Tracking it I noticed it had been sitting for an hour and growing. Finally AA admitted it was going to be delayed an hour so our 45 min connection was by the boards. They moved us to a JetBlue direct. Good deal, right?

That flight was also coming from DCA and was also delayed. Then the storms came that they were holding the incoming flights for. It was a 3 hour freaking monsoon.

So for a flight that was supposed to leave at 7:25 with a connection and arrive at 11:30, we got a direct but didn’t arrive till 1:30 AM. Total time from rental drop off to arrival,
9 hours with two of them on the plane.

Being my kid, my daughter was disappointed that we only got one flight instead of two and wants to know when we can fly again 🤣

We drove from Irwin to Charlotte, and honestly most of the drive was great. Wide open throughout WV. Then we hit Virginia. Total shitshow with truckers just sitting in the left lane. Got to NC and it went back to being great.

That said, daughter had a rough trip and there’s a 75% chance that she asks if we can just drive home tomorrow because she’s homesick. I don’t even know what to say.

Man, that sucks. I would try to find something she likes to do tomorrow. Maybe the Barbie movie? Park Plaza Cinema is great btw. Good luck.

Yes sir. And the big tray of fries :thumb:

I took my daughter to Tytoona (the big cave system near Tyrone, and I'm 90% sure I saw a puma/wildcat on the gravel road just off the main road. I've never seen an animal like that in the wild, and it had a long tail and kept stopping to lick its fur just like any other cat. My step-dad swore he saw one in that valley years ago, they are exceedingly rare but I'm pretty sure that's what it was.

A few months ago I was viciously attacked for booked a vacation to Boise. I was pumped to have a day of hiking. A day of biking. A day of tubing. And a rodeo. Now the forecast has several days of 100+ degree weather and my girlfriend is afraid to go. Sigh
I'll find my limo driver, mister take us to the show.

We decided to take a short 3/4 day trip to Minny in September because I love Malls...and the Mall of America seems cool, and there is a zoo nearby and my wife loves zoo's haha.

Anyone else been to Minny and know of any other random cool things to do? We will be there from basically Wed/Thurs/Fri/part of Sat.

have a Jucy Lucy-off. 5/8 Club and then Matt's Bar. Matt's Bar FTW!

:D

I went law school in St. Paul, and we used to go there to blow off steam. They have giant Jenga on the roof, it's pretty cool.

The other obvious stuff is to get a Juicy Lucy, there are two places that have 'real' ones. Matt's Bar and the 5-8 Club. It's worth it as a novelty, kind of like going to Primanti's in Pittsburgh.

There are Peanuts character statues all over downtown in St. Paul, but that's not really a destination. If you're over at the Science Museum of Minnesota (near where the Wild play) you'll see them on park benches and stuff.

We are staying at the hilton homewoodsuites that is within walking distance to MOA. It seems the light rail train system will take us from the airport to almost our hotel from what I can see and then also in to downtown...so I don't think we will need to rent a car.

Figured Museums and such would also be on the agenda, but I really need to look around...appreciate all the suggestions. All I had to start was the MOA and the zoo haha.

Minnehaha Falls and Park are a pretty nice area to do some mini-hikes and catch a little nature.

If the Twins are in town, it might be worth going to a game. Target Field is one of the best in the league and the cheap seats are a lot closer to the field than many other places.

There were multiple - multiple - cars parked vacant at the pumps, while the owners were inside. Saw somebody and their entire family eating lunch at the pump, not even while simultaneously pumping gas. That was a 40 minute ordeal which then resulted in us getting caught in heavy traffic from a truck fire that started while we were eating lunch.

We saw a fistfight over a gas pump the last time we were there. There were literally dozens of open pumps down the line, but the RV turd needed THAT pump the clapped out Saturn pulled into. Bizarre.

Hope yinz had fun in HHI!

I’ll be honest, it doesn’t appeal to me as much anymore. This was our first trip there since 2017, and we were pretty bored a lot of the time, as there really isn’t a whole lot to do. Marriott’s pools leave a lot to be desired, and for some reason they feel the need to keep them at bath temperature, which doesn’t make any sense given how hot and humid it was. We did still enjoy the food, though. One Hot Mama’s has some terrific BBQ, probably better than Smokehouse.

Maybe it was also because we were with extended family, but I don’t see us returning to HHI anytime soon. I sure as hell will not be driving any further than Pittsburgh ever again, as well. I’m writing this from a Holiday Inn Express just outside of Richmond, VA because my daughter didn’t want to drive straight thru.
