I guess I'm not familiar enough with the MLB draft to know that. Seems like that'd be a draft of the decade for a single team, not necessarily the whole league.
Only three first overall picks are in the Hall of Fame.

- Griffey Jr., drafted in 87, inducted in 2016
- Chipper Jones, drafted in 90, inducted in 2018
- Harold Baines, drafted in 77, inducted in 2019

Even at the very top, the MLB Draft is a complete crapshoot.

Just imagine the current versions of Cole, Glasnow and Bell on the same team. And that they all came from the same draft. That's pretty rare

Wait, that was depressing. Don't do that

Or, realistically, imagine this version of Glasnow and the return they would have gotten from trading the 2018/2019 version of cole with two years of control for under 20 million, and the two years of development those players then obtained.

Looks like we're going to hear the Astro's punishment shortly, and we also learned that the Red Sox were cheating.

225/306/363/668 last season. 240/317/342/659 for his career. Turd sandwich. This dude is Gorkys Hernandez with another name.

Seems like an early candidate for the All Hated team, 2020 decade edition.

Things:

- Pablo Reyes was DFA'd to make room on the 40 man for Luis Guillermo Heredia. Reyes had a rough go of it in MLB last year, but I'd rather keep around a 26 year old with position flexibility and a shred of potential over adding some 29 year old turd. Regardless, more than half of the 40 man roster is pitchers and most of them suck. Should have dumped one of them.

- Pirates have signed catcher John Ryan Murphy to a minor league contract with a spring invite. Turns 29 in May and sucks at the plate as much as that other catcher they signed, but is also said to be good defensively and an excellent pitch framer. They're trying to win games 2-1 this year.

- Noon ET is the deadline for exchanging arbitration offers.

MLBTR’s projections:
Pirates (9)

Keone Kela (5.000) – $3.4MM
Michael Feliz (3.169) – $1.2MM
Jameson Taillon (3.110) – $2.3MM
Chad Kuhl (3.079) – $1.4MM
Adam Frazier (3.075) – $3.2MM
Joe Musgrove (3.063) – $3.4MM
Josh Bell (3.053) – $5.9MM
Trevor Williams (3.027)- $3.0MM
Erik Gonzalez (3.007) – $800K
Gonzalez already signed a one year deal for $725K. Contracts can still be negotiated up until the players arbitration hearing, but given the Pirates cheapness I imagine most of these guys will roll the dice to see what they get in arbitration.

The Pirates and righty Chad Kuhl have settled on an $840K salary, tweets Adam Berry of MLB.com. Kuhl didn’t throw a pitch in 2019 as he recovered from Tommy John surgery, leaving him with minimal leverage in talks. He falls quite a bit shy of the $1.4MM forecast by the MLBTR algorithm.
The Pirates and righty Jameson Taillon agreed to a $2.25MM salary for the upcoming season, tweets USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. Taillon isn’t expected to pitch in 2020 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, so this is likely the amount he’ll earn both next season and in 2021. The deal is right in line with his $2.3MM projection.

$4.8MM for Bell.
