Is this where Dejan takes credit for saving the franchise?

I had never heard of Ogden Nutting before, and I googled his name and apparently he was honored in Wheeling last spring. He doesn't actually have any kind of control, does he?

That's a good question. The original Nutting involvement with the Pirates was as part of McClatchy's ownership and I believe at that point it was all family money. Ogden was also on the Pirates board during that time period. No idea if Ogden still holds that position because the Pirates act like all of their **** is top secret.

This is awesome. Now Nutting's daddy is mad that his son's toy is broken

How did it benefit Nutting to not fire everyone at once?

Also, in DK's column comments, there is a law enforcement convention going on downtown and the attendees got a private tour led by Frank Coonelly. He said that he was on his way out because the media leaked out that his house was for sale. So his last official duty - at least one of them - was to give a tour of PNC Park. He also praised the LEO present for their diligence in DUI checkpoints etc. Most were from out of town and didn't know that he himself had been stopped at a checkpoint. Good times.

DK is honestly vindicated here. The media shredded him, but in the end, he was right.

How so? 5 days ago he said NH was out and it could be very soon then he backtracked right away and said Williams will decide. Williams hasn't even been introduced officially yet. If you throw enough **** at the wall something will stick

I just for once, feel like he called it, got enough grief for it, so he left it back to open-ended. Don't know, think he's better than anything The Fan provides, imo.

I will say though, Mackey broke this one first. So who knows. I feel like DK had it right last week before he called it off.

I honestly don't care if it was unconventional. The end result was that they still cleaned-house, which is what I personally wanted.

I'm not ready to call the house clean until Kyle Stark and Larry Broadway are told to **** off as well. Guess that first round of manager interviews was all for naught.

And while we're at it, **** off Tom Prince and Jeff Bannister as well. Get everyone the **** out and start this disaster over. If someone has trade value (Marte, Kela?) get what you can and starting re-building for real.

Agree that a clean sweep was needed. It needs to go deeper (i.e. scouting and development) but I'm cool with letting the new GM handle that.

I can honestly say I never thought Nutting et al had the balls to fire all 3. Nutting is by no means off the hook, but I truly believe if he hires the right people, the Pirates can be a winning team despite his penny-pinching.
