Companies like EA Sports and such licensed with the NCAA and colleges. I doubt that would change, so the company wouldn’t be paying the athletes, the NCAA and colleges would be.

My presumption is the players will be able to negotiate with companies like EA, individually. The same way Michael Jordan was missing from certain video games in the 90s. Basically the school won't be able to release the athletes likenesses for their own gain anymore. I haven't read into it, though.

The NCAA cannot license player names and likenesses out, right? The new players association or whatever it's called would be doing that. The teams don't pay players for being in Madden..

Correct. If tif wasn't walking around with his pinky up at F1 in Hollywood he'd clarify on how it works. I believe that the NFLPA, and other respective unions reach the agreement with content creators and then each athlete gets a check from the union.

Maybe that was the hook with the Jordan thing (and I think Lemieux, too). They went around the PA to negotiate deals.

Barry Bonds did similar things. I think any baseball game after like 2000 had some random placeholder dude in his position (MVP Baseball used to be John Dowd and 2k had Joe Young or something like that).

I remember playing NBA 98 or around that time frame. Jordan was "Number 99".

I remember in NBA Live 96 the Bulls had no Jordan. They were mediocre, but Rodman’s hair changed colors every few games.

NCAA Football making a return? That would be good.

This is literally the only thing about this conversation that I care about. I still have 14 sitting next to my PS3 in the living room (along with Show 14 & 15 because of the Royals).

Soccer season's over, first free Saturday in 2 months, and there's this steaming pile of crap slate of games to watch.

Cocktail party should be good, otherwise meh.

I believe I saw today that Kansas is looking for their first 4-win season since 2009 today. So that's pretty futile.

This Nebraska/Purdue and Michigan/Maryland set is the worst 12pm set up of the season.

Just dreadful football.

Purdue Nebraska ended up being great. Other than the booth crew openly rooting for the huskers during plays, a lot of fun.

It was only great because they traded late Touchdown. The game was poorly played.

Notre Dame needed a last second TD to beat a Virginia Tech team whose QB went 9 of 28 with an interception.

An acquaintance of mine had dinner with him in Lexington last week. He wore FSU shorts. He asked why are you wearing FSU shorts and as they drove by three billboards with his face on them Stoops said well we'd never get anywhere if I was wearing Kentucky blue.

Tldr he's going to FSU

I find the Kiffin to Seminoles rumors even more salivating. That would be wonderful.
