LMAO. People are absolutely pathetic.

WTF. This is an ESPN reporter, mind you, suggesting that surely Rudolph called Garrett an N-word. That being called a racist slur is the only explanation for Garrett's behavior.

Honestly, that Tweet should be enough to get her fired. Race-baiting garbage.

If that happened, Garrett should come out and say it did. It would also help to have a few others on field that heard it. And if it's determined to be legit, Rudolph should be done.

With all that said, I highly doubt Rudolph said anything racist. He may have grabbed his face mask, kicked him in the nuts, and called him a dodint, though.

My wife's uncle is all on the Rudolph started it bandwagon. He said he's seen calls from Steelers fans to go after Baker in a few weeks for revenge. I don't doubt that's happening, I just have yet to see it.

The fact that people can't separate (HA!) Rudolph pulling Garrett's helmet and Garrett actually hitting Rudolph with the helmet is amazing. Who cares how it started? One action is very clearly worse than the other.

Certainly what Rudolph did doesn't absolve Garrett of Roid Rage.

My FB feed is filled with people saying that Rudolph should be suspended, too. Others are posting screenshots of the NFLs rule on penalties for players using their helmets as a weapon. Since it doesn’t mention a suspension, they think he shouldn’t be suspended. I have too many dumb friends, it seems.

I think most rational people would argue that committing a roughing the passer on the final play of game that was already decided is what instigated the drama.

Suspensions are supposed to hurt the team though... :pop:

Once Garrett removed Rudolph's helmet, he held on to it for four seconds and the scrum migrated about ten yards. Every other NFL skirmish I've seen where a helmet is pulled off by a player, they either discard it fairly quickly or immediately take a swing in a heat-of-the-moment fashion.

Also, I think it's possible that David DeCastro saved Garrett's life by tackling him and just laying on him.

Even if you ignore that and start the play with Rudolph trying to rip off his helmet, it doesn’t change anything. If he didn’t swing that helmet, I doubt anyone is suspended.

Definitely not, that's why I think the Pouncey suspension is BS.

Pouncey's suspension is about making sure he is not on the field for the rematch in two weeks more than it is for punishing any of his actual conduct.

That’s how I feel about it, as well. I think he probably deserved 1-2 games.

Disagree

You can't kick people in the head regardless of the preceding events. Not suspending him for that leads to a bad precedent. NFL shouldn't really have had to think too hard about it.

Has anyone said he shouldn't be suspended at all? I believe that was a comment on the length

I'm not saying that the only reason he was suspended was to keep him out of the rematch; he earned a one-game sitdown for sure. But if they weren't playing each other again in 17 days, I don't think he'd have bagged more than one game.

I misinterpreted tif's post, or focused too much on the "more about something other than punishing his conduct" comment.

I still think kicking someone in the head, or attempting to, is more than a one gamer.

I don't think Pouncey should have been suspended. That's rooted in the opinion that what Garret did was so out of the box that punishing a futile retaliation intent is crap. I mean, Pouncey was what, kicking at the guy's helmet? If Garret was sans helmet there, then I would have zero issue, because then you are punishing damage and intent. But to just punish intent after what Garrett did is weaksauce.

Eh he came in throwing some punches. The kicks were icing on the cake. I think he deserved a game, more for appearance of it all. I don't blame him one iota

I'm just thinking what level of danger does a player have to pose before we aren't concerned about the actions other players are taking to subdue an out of control player?

There's subduing him (Decastro) and there's what Pouncey did

Vontaze Burfict wants you to know that even *he* was disgusted by Garrett's actions, and bristles at any comparison to him.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/280 ... er-goodell
Burfict told The Athletic he was watching Thursday's game with his daughters, ages 4 and 2, and turned it off after the fight, in which Garrett hit Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph with his helmet with seconds left in the fourth quarter.

"I don't want them to see that," Burfict said. "Because that's not what I do. That's not part of football. I hit people on the field during the game. And they say that's dirty, yeah, whatever. I get hit, too, during the games, so don't complain. It's football, bro."

For a long time, I really felt a lot of the bad things about the NFL were due in most part to the poor socioeconomic background that a lot of these guys are from....but I’m changing my opinion. Many NBA players grow up in the same conditions and aren’t total dickheads. Soccer players from Brazil often live in shanty towns and aren’t complete maniacs. To me, this is all a combo of performance enhancers, repeated head injuries, and a culture from when you start playing that turns you into a maniac

It’s somewhat amazing to me to see how the Cleveland browns fans I am friends with are rationalizing this and saying Myles Garrett is not at fault
