Christ you’re dense today. Rudolph is very clearly the guy we drafted to replace Roethlisberger. Since he’s pond scum, name three college QBs available in next year’s draft that will be better than him.

You're losing an elite QB. Unless Rudolph is an elite level QB, you're going to have a drop-off in offensive production...which puts you in the same position as 29 other teams. How do you offset a drop in offensive production and remain competitive? How bout strengthen your defense with elite level talent?

The addition of Fitzpatrick gives them a great Dline, elite OLB, potentially elite ILB, a tendem of above average CBs, and a potentially elite safety. Get rid of Butler and you may be on to something.

That’s where I’m at with all of this. You don’t need a hall of fame QB to win the Super Bowl, and this move addresses a need that we’ve had for quite some time now.

These next 4-5 weeks are going to be very interesting, because Rudolph looked good for being thrown into the fire.

I just don't get the "ZOMG'ing" over losing a potential high 1st round pick next year. Granted its mostly coming from the local media. The guys 1 year into his playing career and was a 1st round pick. So essentially the Steelers just made their 2020 first round pick early. Unless that pick turns out to be like a top 5, but I'd bet theres at least 5 teams that the Steelers can't finish under even if they tried.

 This is definitely my favorite reply to the trade on Reddit.
I wouldn’t trust Tomlin on picking DB’s even if we had the first 32 picks in the draft

No, but it certainly helps. Non-HOF caliber QBs that have won the Superb Owl in the last 20 years can be counted on one hand. The losers, however, are a veritable "who's that" of the position.

This is more of a product of Brady, Manning, and Roethlisberger playing for almost every damn super bowl since 2001.

Can someone else please start a 2019 Stillers thread? I fear the OP has pre-doomed the season.

I’ve never seen anything like this for a preseason game, pretty wild:

Back then, players weren't working out extensively year round. They actually needed the long training camp and preseason to actually get into game shape. But even then, that's a lot of star power for an exhibition game.

...and they were avenging their Superb Owl loss to the Steelers the previous January. ;)

That group is 10-6 in Superb Owls. So they make up a big chunk of the guys whose names you recognize on the losing side of the ledger, too.

Two are Rodgers and Brees, right? ...the latter is a top 10 QB of all time, easily...the other have the potential to be really high end, and is certainly going to the HOF...

2000: Trent Dilfer over Kerry Collins - **** LOL
2001: Brady over Warner
2002: Brad Johnson over Rich Gannon
2003: Brady over Delhomme
2004: Brady over McNabb
2005: Ben over Hasselbeck
2006: Good Manning over Grossman
2007: Bad Manning over Brady
2008: Ben over Warner
2009: Brees over Good Manning
2010: Rodgers over Ben
2011: Bad Manning over Brady
2012: Flacco over Kap
2013: Wilson over Good Manning
2014: Brady over Wilson
2015: Good Manning over Newton
2016: Brady over Matt Ryan
2017: Foles over Brady
2018: Brady over Goff

The list is dominated by the top QBs in the league, as you would expect, but there's still some turds sneaking in there with Delhomme, Hasselbeck, Grossman, Flacco, Kap, Foles, Goff, and Ryan. It's possible to get to win a Super Bowl without a HOF QB and it's possible to lose the Super Bowl with a HOF QB. I don't think the next crop of top QBs with exhibit the dominance of Brady, so it should be easier to survive and compete with a mid-tier QB.
