What was that mean guy that pretended the care that New England had...he was like 6'7" with a rocket arm...? His last name was a real word I think...that's all the clues I have...I think SEC QB...

Too bad Nate Peterman isn't to be had. How fun would it be for him to start for the Steelers!

In case anyone was wondering, I approve of the Minkah Fitzpatrick acquisition.

we're going to be bad this year. our 2020 pick was going to be valuable as f***. this is probably the worst move i've seen this front office make.

Or the 2020 pick is Minkah Fitzpatrick, who just so happens to have already proven himself at the pro level.

When your QB goes down in week 2, and there are no indications that you are even an average team, the prudent move is to embrace tank mode. You don’t look to improve your secondary for immediate gain at the expense of the fruits of tanking.

That's what I mean. It's not like Minkah is 30 years old. He is a 22 year old (young) DB (by far our biggest need) that most importantly has proven that he can play very well at the NFL level. I would rather have that than an unproven commodity that has never been tested in the NFL. This is an obvious move to me.

He's on a rookie contract for the next four years. It's not like he's a free agent in 2020. Team control is the key.

As of a couple days ago, our biggest need is a long term answer to who is the guy behind center.

If he was on the final year of his contract, sure, it'd be a dumb move. But he's signed for three more seasons. AND it addresses a need that we have failed miserably to draft since Troy **** Polamalu.

Or you trade a potential asset for a known asset

Also, you will never convince me you can get a team full of competent professional athletes to tank

The Fitzpatrick move, to me, shows the Steelers believe they have their guy in Rudolph, and they are not writing off 2019. Their division is still winnable - CIN lol; CLE is still a WIP; the series with BAL is 50-50 for like a decade - and all you need is a shot.

signed for 3 more seasons...3 seasons that will be an incremental attempt at rebuilding through good luck. this does something for you?

i guess if your goal is to have your local team remain competitive, this is what you want. but we need a real quarterback, or else we're stuck in this 6-10 thru 8-8 pattern until we strike gold with a franchise changer. which could take between 1 and 50 years.

What tif said. The Steelers already believe they have the next franchise QB in Rudolph.

Don't know, but we'd have to finish in the bottom 5 of the entire league to think that we'll land a guy high on the prospect list. Tua Tagovailoa is the only guys I know of that'll be up there.

Pretty poor it seems...I could see believing in the kid from Oregon...but the Alabama tread/re-tread will need to make some serious leaps in progress, Jake Fromm will need to a lot more growth from where he's been (which he started out really strong, good foundation to build from but hasn't gotten much better as a college player I don't think) and I'm not sure there's really anything else...let me put it this way, I'm not sure there's more than 1 QB that I would take over the B/B- prospect that is Mason Rudolph...
