Yeah, I’ve only heard about 10 minutes of actual info from the trial, and agree with you and Morkle. Now, Depp should send that $25m to everyone who has watches any of his recent films for wasting our time.

Actually watched a fair bit out of morbid curiousity and a hunch that Heard wasn't exactly a truthful person. Testimony in the trial pretty much confirmed that. Glad to see this as the outcome.

The only question remaining for me is would you consider Heard a psychopath or a sociopath? I'm leaning psycho.

I believe it $15 million and not $25 million; the jury awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. He will actually get $10.35 million. A legal blog I read says that Virginia state law will cap the $5 million punitive amount down to $350,000. So net $8.35 million.

Heard also won a $2 mil judgment against Depp (or one of his attorneys).

In the post-#metoo era she penned an op-ed that pretty much accused him of rape and other forms of sexual violence. He said she pooped in their bed (on purpose). Lawsuits were filed back and forth, and oh what fun it has been.

100%. Imagine being a juror and getting paid $15/day to listen to these dadholes.

I didn't follow the trial, but I was expecting something like a "you wasted our time" verdict where both of them were found liable for defamation with the exact same damages, so that each offset against the other. Couple that with the attorneys' fees that both would have paid, and they both would have lost money.

That's what I would have done, at least.

What a dumb narrative. It's got a good bit of traction.

They don't want men to be allowed to defend themselves from accusations.

Maybe they are pulling out because they were baseless accusations?

Not asserting anything specific but the reaction should be the desire to make stronger statements, not a sudden loss of interest in making statements after seeing someone get disciplined for making false statements...

Survivors who put false accusations out there are 'sickened.' The way in which if a man wins, it's a rigged system is blasted out there is awful.

There's definitely a subset of people who supported Johnny Depp because they hate women and wanted to use Amber Heard as a proxy against Me Too or women who report abuse in general. And, as noted above, it was pretty obvious both parties were not innocent in this, so to be fervently on one side or the other gets a little icky for me.

Heard may have been a victim, but sort of by her own admission (or the admission of several of her own witnesses) she gave as good as she got in certain respects. I would not take that as a broad indication of how all domestic violence situations exist (and anecdotally is certainly not representative of the ones friends of mine have experienced), but holy s**t they are both crazy people.

She also could be sued for defamation again with her press release after the guilty verdict. If I was Depp, I'd sue her ass again making sure she never said my name in public.

for the latter story I think part of the sentence should be that the offender has to sit in a closed car under the same circumstances.
